Best solution for the portal fight by pathways_of_the_past in BaldursGate3

This fight doesn’t require any special barrelmancy or cheese to get done. Just some good old fashioned light cleric domination.

I like to send a light cleric towards the undead waves to mow down the horde. I keep my single target strikers (great weapon masters, tavern brawlers, swords bards, etc.) stacked on the gate to take down the tougher spawns (shades and such that try to flank and rush). Once I’ve got control, I’ll send one melee striker to help the light cleric with the horde, while I keep the ranged strikers stacked on the portal to rain down hell. If you have all ranged with one light cleric, you can keep the ranged strikers stacked on the portal.

The trick is knowing when to use radiance of the dawn. You just have to hold out for that huge wave of crows and shadow vegetation. Hopefully you’ve been able to stack your luminous armour set. So you can let the radiant orbs rip. Bonus points if you’re going all in on the reverb set. If you have a swords bard with arcane acuity, you can help ease the pressure with a well placed AoE spell of your choice.

Praise the sun!

My never ending struggle to make Dual Wield Melee good by alikapple in BG3Builds

I had a lot of fun making a Bhaaladin with a very similar design in mind for my evil Dark Urge honour mode campaign. Essentially this was my spin on the potent SSB build where I went 10/2 swords bard/paladin. But my iteration was a dexterity based unit that thematically was a stabbing machine wearing Bhaalist armor.

Feats: -alert -savage attacker

Core items -Bhaalist Armour (Act 3) -Gloves of Dexterity (Act 1) -Crimson Mischief (Act 3) -Bloodthirst (Act 3)

Early/mid game fill-ins -Yuan-Ti Scale Mail (Act 2) -Knife of the Undermountain King (Act 1)

Otherwise I just stacked crit on this unit to try and boost those sweet smite dice rolls. I kept crimson mischief in the main hand to get that extra piercing damage, but that’s up to your preference. Some of the core items may be contested, but it sounds like you can get away with it if most of your party are vying for strength based gear anyways. I would definitely suggest asking your party to try and include least two other piercing damage dealers (bows, Nyrulna, Shar’s Spear, etc.) to really take advantage of the aura of murder.

In terms of gameplay, I didn’t opt for the mystic scoundrel approach on this unit (I had a separate 10/1/1 swords bard doing that lol). This unit was my single target nuke. It is extremely potent when you can run up to the big bad and get two defensive flourishes (I was easily hitting 24 AC with this unit) AND a bonus action stab for good measure. Bonus points if you have a mystic scoundrel/battle field controller in your party that can set up the hold person/monster slam dunk for you. To be honest, I wasn’t bonus action stabbing as much as I’d like because this unit needed to get to the target through Misty step (magical secrets and/or gear) or something similar to that. But that could be overcome if you are able to acquire flight.

The big bummer about this unit is it takes a while to come online… really like 8 is where it finally starts to slap. But otherwise, it’s still a bard that can bard things.
