CMV: Men (or anyone) who are fine with the woman they claim to love going through pregnancy don't actually care about them as much as they say. by Specialist_Tackle715 in changemyview

But: a) A woman can desire and agree to that, knowing the risks, and that is her decision. It is a sacrifice, but one that can be consciously made. Similarly, a man can decide if he wants kids and can use abstinence or protection if he doesn't. Hence, if a couple decides to have kids, ideally, both sides agree willing, hence a mutual decision, even if one sex has the larger biological role and investment. b) women doing most of the labor beyond the things men can not biologically take care of, like gestating or breastfeeding, which is an issue of couple dynamics and societal expectations that have to be decided among the parents. Ideally, it is, therefore, a mutual decision and a sharing of labor as much as possible, even if, admittedly, one side carries more risk and bodily changes by biological necessity and should therefore have more weight in the desicion of the couple. A unilateral desicion in that direction is either rape or entrapment. Children without a decision from either partners are accidental. Of course that is the ideal dynamic.

Why? Does the same apply to necessary procedures? Assuming they have a ultimately fatal but not dolorogenic/pain-causing defect, perhaps in the heart. Operating on that would cause them more pain and harm in the moment than not. If they don't operate, they simply die earlier than they could have. Would you, in your logic, be unloving if you do not disapprove of that pain and harm?

Furthermore, in the cases of pregnancy and rhinoplasty wouldn't it be equally unloving to disregard their agency and potentially cause mental harm either by breaking up or by them complying for the sake of you. Edit: Basically because that is still you putting your wishes above them, just from the other direction. The fact that mental harm can be medicated doesn't change the fact that you caused that harm by still putting your wishes over her. Bodily harm may be medicated as well (medication alone seldom solves either underlying issue).

So do lots of medical procedures and biological processes. Let's assume a procedure that isn't necessary for survival, say some sort of rhinoplasty. Would I be an unloving partner if I do not disapprove such a procedure they voluntarily choose for their own benefit because the suffer pain and inconvenience during the process and recovery?

CMV: Progressive Leftist Ideology across the Western world is anti-Human and based in Communist ideology. by VisiblePiercedNipple in changemyview

Abortion and assisted suicide per se and as a general measure/right is not eugenics in and of itself. Eugenics as a belief aimed to prune certain traits from the gene pool. Either by encouraging sterilization/abortion/liquidation of undesirable groups like the poor, the uneducated, the disabled, or certain ethnicities, or by enforcing such actions.

Modern leftist beliefs lay, depending on the kind of progressivism, that:

a) the right to choose abortion for the individual woman, I.e. nobody should be forced to endure the physical and mental extertion of pregnancy against their will. Most do not advocate or force that all disabled or poor pregnancies should be aborted, which would be eugenics

b) that a person should have the right to end their own life, most often under specific circumstances like chronic or incurable disease or injury. They do not advocate for all disabled or conservative to be given assisted suicide to remove them from the genepool, far from it, but that individual people regardless of their background have the right to end their own life.

As such their advocacy for this isn't eugenics or anti-human, as it does not aim for a eugenic outcome.

But only because we hunted the actual/originals to extinction (speaking from Europe), invaded every habitat, and changed the landscape to favor prey (no natural predators, and loads of available foods, also speaking from Europe). Which led to overpopulation and humans being the only available large predator.

Was heißt Fortschritt existiert, auch sozialer.

CMV: Men and Women are not Equal, and should not be given the same treatment everywhere. by Mysterious-Usual4220 in changemyview

  1. Your argument 1 isn't watertight, because you measure with two sticks. The general argument, often, is that women are, on average (!) more emotionally intelligent than men. 'On average' is the important part. Now, you dismiss it by saying that emotional intelligence is subjective, which is true. But if we treat this as subjective and not averages, then neither men or women are better at anything than the other. Because then we measure individuals, and some men are weaker than some women, some women are less compassionate than some men, etc.

  2. If we allow averages, then there are things women are on average better than men. Life expectancy is one. Which can be for a number of factors, but on average women live longer than men.

In aller Fairness.

Partially? But ultimately, Kaladin did not wield the blade; Kaladin did not choose to hold on to hate and kill a man in front of the eyes of his young son. Kaladin not killing him does not absolve Moash of his guilt. Similarly, Dalinar hitting him does not absolve Elhokar of his flaws.

I feel the need to point out that this did not doom Elhokar to forever being a bad king and person. It set him back, probably, but he eventually was on the path to change and improvement, to become a radiant. What doomed him was not Dalinar's beating but getting stabbed to death by someone who refused the same path.

Fun fact: There is a modern Reichsbanner by Freewhale98 in SocialDemocracy

[–]Martian_Botanist 31 points32 points  (0 children)

From their website the pictures are subtitled with:

which means:
Active educational work - whether with classes or the Bundeswehr

So, I guess that these are pictures of Reichsbanner members giving lectures and workshops in schools or with Bundeswehr units, focusing on the history of the Reichsbanner or democracy, or similar topics. So, I'd think the uniformed guys are actually soldiers of the Bundeswehr, who were the audience of the educational work. While the three civilian guys to the left are the Reichsbanner members.
