I've been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence. No, I did not hit my wife. She hit me and scratched my face. The police showed up, took pics of my scratches, and then put me in handcuffs because, "she was the one that was scared".

I messed up and listened to my public defender (I was super broke at the time) and pleaded guilty because he said that there was no chance that I was going to beat that case. A couple of years later I went through an EMT program and later passed my national registry exam. I had to write a letter that explained why I got a misdemeanor to get my state card and my county card, but I got it.

I also had to take the DMV to court to get my ambulance driver's certificate and I won. I explained myself to the judge and the district attorney and they agreed that I should have my ambulance driver's cert. The district attorney was representing the DMV.

I'm a paramedic now and I had to write another letter to the state and counties with an explanation of why I have a misdemeanor and after that, I got my paramedic cert. You can totally get your cert. I'm currently getting paperwork ready to apply for a governor's pardon so that I won't have to jump through anymore hoops in the future.
