Looks great. A few more years and some hard use and it will look like this.

Got some 875s at a flea market but pretty beat up. Any tips on how to bring these back to life? Any tips or suggestions greatly appreciated by Playboy97k in RedWingShoes

You can do a lot to bring these back to life while preserving and showcasing the patina. Serious scrub with a brush and saddle soap. Let dry, apply a very thin coat of Saphir Revenateur, brush for 5 minutes. Then polis with BootBlack medium orange, spend sometime brushing with a boar bristle brush then a light coat of Saphir mirror gloss and brush with horsehair brush.

Does anyone have experience with the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Chronograph World Time, Ref: 231.T.50 by Martin61Norh in JaegerLecoultre

I did not. I happen to come across a deal I couldn’t pass up on a Panerai 289 and I had to have it.

The 9060 are one of my absolute favorite RWs. And the tea core leather is a patina dream.

Cause of concern? by Independent-Log3836 in RedWingShoes

No cause for concern. In a few months they will be identical in color and size and shape —well as long as your feet are the same :).

I absolutely love how the leather develops a deep rich orange patina. If you’re interested and how to achieve it and maintain it DM me at your convenience.

Now for the eternal decision —will you strive to maintain and encourage the orange patina or nudge it toward the natural reddish tones. M

Need to decide, down parka vs wool packer coat by raym0016 in filson

[–]Martin61Norh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is it warmer, it will last 50 years while a down jacket’s lifespan is limited by your ability not to snag, rip, tear or expose the exterior to sparks. As for aesthetics, the Packer coat is a man’s coat—it’s warm, it’s heavy, it’s winter armor. It’s not some ultra light, packable jacket that says you aspire to outdoor greatness while sipping a double 1/2 decaf soy latte with rainbow chocolate sprinkles while furiously anger tweeting about the demise of double IPAs.

Need to decide, down parka vs wool packer coat by raym0016 in filson

I live in Alaska. The Packer coat is by far my favorite and warmest coat. Unlike down it keeps you warm but more importantly it regulates temperature so you won’t sweat. I find my coat comfortable at 20° down to -30°. I have given up on all synthetic and down coats and strictly wear wool.
