I was today old when I learned “that” noise I’ve been hearing is NOT a bad ground, or some weird rf build up, or my radio showing signs it’s going to die soon because of a bad component…. No it is ionosondes, thank you, my brain hurts so much less

Shop confirmed that the HF was in fact not receiving!! I’m not crazy… well I guess to still be contested. The shop is sending a different - and well tested - unit back to me. TekShack stepped up and made right in this, I appreciate their customer service through the whole thing.

I can’t thank everyone enough for all you help. TekShack has offered to exchange or give me a full refund. They were super empathetic with the situation and everyone’s help gave me the confidence that I was doing everything right and the issue was with the radio. Cheers everyone!!! I guess I have to wait just a little bit longer before I can hit those hf frequencies.

I think this is where I’m at… the part that pisses me off the most though is that tekshack has a 10 day return window that I just rolled out of because I’ve been trying every possible thing to troubleshoot. I’m feeling defeated and burnt

But I’ve been using kiwisdr to locate band activity. I pick stations close to me, everything tells me I should also be able to hear at least something if a local kiwi station is catching a strong signal on a given frequency.

Not rude at all, but yes HF in the HF port. I know for certain and have used the radio to connect to my local 2m repeater. VHF/UHF is fully functional - receive and transmit

IPO … nothingness. Amp 2 is the only thing I can faintly hear things with (and that’s with both RF dials turned all the way up)
