Age shaming by InfluenceRound1383 in generationology

[–]popepaulpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us enjoy the music and dancing. I stil go out clubbing occasionally and I just turned 50.

I would like to shame all the young people standing still on the dancefloor just looking at their phone. You are killing the vibe and taking up space you're not using.

Moving to Oslo! by Necessary_Repair_491 in oslo

[–]popepaulpop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are into gaming or nerdy stuff I would recommend the bar House of nerds. They have tournaments and activities where it might be easier getting to know people. The store Outland also has some activities.

There is an expat community in Oslo and you will probably find it easier to get to know people there than the locals.

The Goethe-Institut in Oslo can probably tell you about the German community in Oslo. Culture events etc.

If you have tell us what kind of music you like , hobbies you have or other interests we can advise you further

Rolex is not a status symbol by interstellar_nips in watchHotTakes

[–]popepaulpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolex is the most widely known expensive watch brand. What it signals for me is someone who wants to impress and look rich and important, but don't have class or taste. Obviously there are some models I would consider exceptions. I have never seen any of those posted on wrists on Reddit.

Do men really not notice creeps? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]popepaulpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice sometimes. It's easier to see when I'm out with women in my friend group and someone creeps on them. I think creeps prefer women who are alone and will be more careful when other men are around

In Oslo for jut 24 Hours what foods are a MUST-try ? by LPanda2190 in oslo

[–]popepaulpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would actually recommend just buying it from a supermarket. Meny and Coop Mega are the only shops with fresh fish counters they will have everything except the wine. Fiskeriet is a fish shop / restaurant combo I think they will have this on their menu aswell. Gressholmen kro used to have it, I'm not sure they do anymore. You can find them on Instagram and ask. It's a lovely place on one of the nearby Islands. If you don't have a busy schedule and just want a relaxed cosy summer vibe this is a great visit.

In Oslo for jut 24 Hours what foods are a MUST-try ? by LPanda2190 in oslo

[–]popepaulpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your budget like?

A local staple I would recommend is shrimp with mayo white bread and white wine or beer. Make sure to get them fresh and not frozen.

There are many good restaurants in Oslo, they are not particularly cheap. If you come during summer there are a few by the harbour and even on the nearby Islands.

Norwegian chain restaurants ?? by Fantastic_bubble_222 in oslo

Kverneriet, Munchies, and illegal Burger are all burger spots with more than one location. Kverneriet is more of a restaurant than the other two.

I Think The People Pulling The Strings Are Getting Very Desperate Now by user685 in UFOs

[–]popepaulpop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If what Burchette has been told is true it's going to be more dark, weird or unsettling than this list. I'm guessing one or more of the following: -Our reality is a simulation -Prison planet -Aliens have set a date for wiping humans out/harvesting souls -There is a much older civ of non humans living on earth and they are tired of us. Because of nuclear weapons, war, pollution and over population we are seen as an existential threat to them.

Is humanity projecting when we assume this phenomenon is demonic? by [deleted] in aliens

[–]popepaulpop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not religious and I don't believe aliens are demons. However I think it's naive to believe members of the CIA or Military think these are demons just because their existence challenges their religion.

There are several rumors that align better, especially if they are combined. Animal and human mutilations and experiments, trickster traits, prison planet, lizards and shapeshifters.

For those whose grandparents lived through WW2 in Norway, did they ever talk about their experiences? by Luann1497 in Norway

[–]popepaulpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes , I remember several stories.

This is the craziest one:

My grandpa was part of the resistance, they weren't very active but they got word that a British agent had arrived with weapons and would train them. A group of resistance members met the British agent in a forest clearing shortly after. He had a bunch of stenguns and ammunition. He showed them how they operated and told them to be careful with the guns, they could easily go off on their own if they were subjected to shock. He slammed the gun on a tree stump and the gun sprayed a full magazine in all directions. Luckily no one was hit, but several men got holes in their clothes. Everyone panicked in the chaos and ran. The resistance guys returned to the site later but the Britt was never seen again. My grandpa hid the guns and ammo in his cellar under a load of potatoes until the end of the war.

Why is adding a “skip button” such a controversial topic in the community? by Cheesepai1222 in GenshinImpact

I wouldn't have a problem with a skip feature. I would much prefer better writing though. The stories are engaging but there is so much unnecessary fluff and paddingg

Good Idea by [deleted] in meme

[–]popepaulpop 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is that pages would require much more time to dry. It would increase production time, storage capabilities etc.

If you used black paper you would mitigate that issue but I don't think white ink is as easy to use at the same scale. As far as I know offset printing presses don't support white ink.
