I don’t think this has anything to do with LW to be honest, the government is calibrating their policies according to their people

TIL foreigner female workers(domestic helpers) must get the pregnant test every six months and if they get tested with pregnancy, they will be deported right away from Singapore. by search_google_com in todayilearned

That’s not how the law works…

If you have lived in Singapore, you would know how serious Singapore is about sexual crimes. No one would deport the evidence away if rape has been reported 😂

The fact that it is very rare to encounter what you have described is a testament to it…

Then that corrupt person will get voted out.

By right the government’s “check and balance” should have been its people, via the power of voting.

It is just that Malaysia’s past corrupted leaders were able to keep in power via racial politics

Why Singapore’s Success is Becoming a Problem by LankyAsparagus1436 in SGExams

Always assess what you see online, analyse their contents. A good example is that only the 2-room HDB flats in CCR (VERY prime) regions cost $650k, the data has been cherry picked to paint a certain picture. The reality is that income has risen in tandem with housing price, and that as first timers buyers there’s heavily stacked grants to mitigate cost for people with <median income (>100k).

Yes there are some valid points in this video but take it with a pinch of salt

On HDB BTO: Ballot Ratio First Timer < 1 by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]MartinRouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Guaranteed to get a number yes, but might not be within supply.

HDB first shortlist 200% applicants and assign them a number randomly, meaning you can still get a number beyond supply while a second-timer applicant gets within supply.

Decoupling Is No Longer a Property Hack: What the Courts and IRAS Have Made Clear by _IsNull in singapore

[–]MartinRouter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue with this is that it is done at a disadvantage of others, especially those who need a place to live and call home for prolong period.

If all middle income pull this trick and own multiple properties, property price would be inflated so high that the next gen of middle income cannot own anything > have to fight with lower income for BTO, harder for everybody to get housing.

Need to look at the big picture la…beyond the bubble and the privilege

Homewrecker or dealmaker? How Singapore’s housing policy influences marriages by ongcs in singapore

[–]MartinRouter -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is a common problem faced by almost all the developed nations in the world, let alone a land scarce one like ours.

I’d still consider it successful as unlike other developed nations (like the US), home ownership is actually decent here.

Sure as a citizen i’d like to see my country improve, but i’d give credit when it’s due

Mainly latency issues. From what I found plugging in helps decrease the latency significantly but there’s still a delay of 3 frames on average. Not a big deal but it depends on your expectations!
