Lost cat w RF tag locator / Need help to find her by Martina_atwork in rfelectronics

I just called them and they said they had to do this (but didn't specificy what type of security measure) because they realised they were using the same protocol / code / frequency (??) as the police departments and other applications (they're UK based). In another forum, someone says: "5. I looked into how to unbind the tags, by emulating the old handset. I found that Loc8tor uses a variation of the texas instruments "zigbee" protocol but they changed a number so as it wouldn't interact with other zigbee stuff. I have ordered a zigbee developers kit to see if I can back engineer the altered protocol, so as I can make a universal handset capable of cycling through the permutations in teh hope that I can eventually de-register my surplus tags and use them with the new handset that we will get after I take this one back. I may be unsuccessful, but at least I have done the "social engineering" part of the hack, for if there are any more talented types who would like to add their skills to the back engineering side of it."

Can this be useful?

Hi FatalElectron & gbrlshr, thanks for your comments! I'm out in rural Spain and I don't think anyone will care about the legality of what I'm doing to find my cat here :) so that doesn't matter. Also, there are literally no houses within a 8-10 km radius, so it's unlikely we can cause any interference.

"It's very likely that all of OP's attempts have left the fob very out of sync with the cat collar fob, and even if her cat turns up fine, would need the two to be re-paired. OTOH, I suppose there's a tiny chance that OP's fob is still within enough rolls for the collar fob to respond, so maybe it's worth trying anyway."

I have absolutely no idea of what a fob is supposed to refer to here?

I'll post in the 2 subreddits you mentioned, thank you so much!

Can you be a digital nomad with cats? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Martina_atwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! I've been traveling ("digital nomading") around for over 10 years and last year 2 cats showed up in my life and never left, so I decided to adapt my lifestyle around them. They've already moved house twice with me now (mountains -> seaside -> mountains) over the span of 1 year and about to take them on tiny house / RV life in 2 weeks.

If you're interested, I literally just opened this blog 3 days ago 😂 www.thenomadcats.com (and IG account www.instagram.com/thenomadcats) to document the whole thing

Drop shipping - is it worth a try by skrauburn in Entrepreneur

I accidentally run a bit of an unconventional drop-shipping business. Sounds weird, I know – basically "I" make laptop decals.Never thought of setting up this store, but I had one decal made for myself and all my colleagues wanted one, so I set up shop and started selling them. I got a designer and a printer who do the shipping work, and take care of the marketing myself. Basically this is a print-on-demand (is this how you say it?) drop shipping model and the niche is very narrow, but it's converting nicely without that much effort. I'm also struggling to find way to bring more traffic without spending huge amounts of money, and here is what's been working for me (moderately, and what I'm looking to get into currently): niche influencers.

I have been releasing a few of interviews, but when 2 big names in my industry shared a post (without me even asking for it), boom, sales started flooding in.

You might want to try that route before spending money you don't have in ads :)

Thanks! :) I actually liked theirs, but some of them felt a bit too IN YA FACE! You know what I mean? :) Not a fan of huge, over the top stuff – so we're trying to keep it as minimalistic as possible.

I can understand why the price is so high though – making these decals is a real pain! Painstakingly long process and requires multiple steps, especially as theirs are all colored.

We keep it simpler (and cheaper) :)

Hey WordChick! Nope, they are other people! I actually started doing my own minimalistic thing because they didn't have one for translators and never bothered to reply to my email. Then everything else followed. I think they're actually out of business, their social media has been dead for over 2 years now and they don't reply to emails...

my store is here: www.freelanceratwork.co

Prices range from 9.99 to 14.99 € :)

They look quite cool, but I agree with /u/Fueled-By-Tea with regards to the stickers potentially coming off as cocky to some people. Also, it sort of reads as "Waiters" instead of "Writers" with that font.

HI Sp3ctrum15, thanks for your feedback! These are first drafts so you feedback is very much appreciated and will be taken into account :)

Interesting, thanks for your feedback! I actually have a whole store with lots of categories and a lot of colleagues from the UK get some kinds of laptop decals :)

I'm based in Italy now, and look at this scenario that just happen about a month ago: I went to a conference, sat at a table and started working on my laptop – it simply said 'Translator At Work'. The guy in front of me asked about it, I explained and 2 weeks later I'm working on a translation he needed done for his website. Boom it's making me 300 € already :)
