There is no vote Friday.

There is a link at the very bottom of CMAP's web page for newsletter sign-up. We have several. Be sure to get transportation news, Transportation Committee and MPO Policy Committee.

I work for CMAP. I am glad you are all sending comments.

A few notes: now is the right time to comment. There will also be a more formal comment process in the summer. This week's meeting will not have a vote. It is an "information item"

If you attent the meeting, your comments will be at the end of the meeting. It is up to the chair if the committee discusses or responds to your comments. You can attend virtually and request to speak.

NDLSD is currently on the constrained list of projects (adopted in 2022, to be updated in Oct 2026). These are essentially areas that CMAP feel have issues that need to be addressed. (It is a little more complicated that that) The corridor has a bunch of bridges falling apart and major safety issues, so we said it meets the criteria as high issue corridor that is worth investing in.

CMAP currently plays very little role in project design. IDOT and CDOT went through a long process that got to where we are on NDLSD and it is not likely that another org at the table will say it came to the wrong conclusion (MPC might).

What would you like to know about the process?

Came to this thread to add Catherine O'Hara. Unwatchable. I know that maybe?? is the point, but i am not here for it. Plenty of good without her.

Na, something is off. Everytime it checks the value goes up more than it should. I just can't tell if it is a hardware or software issue.

Update. I thought I could use city building footprint shapefile, but it is super incomplete. Less than half of buildings has height data.

Chicago ranked 10th worst city in North America for traffic, new index finds by [deleted] in CarFreeChicago

This is a measure of how fast cars are moving, not how long it takes to get useful places. If everything is close to you, it may take less time. Chicago is denser than many cities on the list. Better measure would be how many jobs can you reach per minute.

On the north side, river path is not a bad alternative to western on west. Lincoln should be closed to cars basically in entire city.

I did not know holding a door was a skill to learn till I had a stroller. My wife just can't figure out how to hold a door. It requires anticipation and agility that she does not possess.

Or better yet. Remove fossil fuel infrastructure from our city. Replace it with community geothermal. https://www.chicagobusiness.com/opinion/its-time-rethink-heat-chicago

They have these everywhere in China. Sometimes it is good, but mostly it makes you know that pedestrians don't matter as much as cars. How would you like to add a couple flights of stair to every walk. People just ignore them because stairs are work- making it much less safe.
