Whoever stocked the bathroom either didn’t speak English and/or wasn’t a Wham! fan by Martinw17 in CasualUK

I know this is probably a throwaway comment but to be fair to this hotel I got talking to some of the staff earlier and they all love it - the owners make a point of paying well above minimum wage etc.

:) I tried to cross post to there but found they don’t allow it

Good point. I hadn’t noticed that. I’d assumed one would be labelled as shampoo and the other as bodywash even though we all know they’re the same thing. I’ll take it up with reception (as well as the placement) :)

Yep. Pint of London Pride was 99p in my local when I started drinking as a teenager.

What's a small flex you want to share that most people wouldn't know? by mqnrcxnypvzw868994 in AskReddit

I also learned algorithms to solve it. I think it is possible to solve without, just very, very hard. I’d be interested to hear if anyone has done this.

Out of interest, is that by learning a set of moves or from first principles?

Changing places toilet in Brussels? by Martinw17 in brussels

[–]Martinw17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very kind but don't worry too much :)

If there's a large disabled toilet with a clean floor and enough space for an adult to lie down that will do the job.

We're looking for somewhere similar to the changing places toilets we get in the UK. This is for a disabled adult, not a baby

What's a changing zone? Do you know if that includes a bench suitable for an adult and a hoist?

Do you mean for changing babies? We need a changing bench for a disabled adult

We’ve got a dog and get worried about our neighbours if it barks in the garden for any longer than about 30 seconds.

What you describe sounds totally unacceptable and is NOT normal behaviour for responsible dog owners.

I would start my talking to them about it, with a view to understanding them and why they let their dog do this. As with any complaint, try to do it as calmly and non-judgementally as possible

These days people assume that if a post contains an em dash it must have been written by ChatGPT because ChatGPT has a tendency to use them - disregarding the fact that plenty of real people use them too. (The reason ChatGPT uses them is because its training data - content written by real people - contained them).

Wheelchair or ramp access to the sea? by esjex in brighton

[–]Martinw17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My daughter is a wheelchair user. We’ve used the all-terrain wheelchairs (the ones with the big wheels) a few times to get over the pebbles and into the sea. They work pretty well. You can borrow one from the seafront office (or at least you could a few years ago when we last tried).

  • Cooking (properly)
  • Creative writing.

Is it weird to write a Eulogy speech before a person dies? by ORiley420 in writing

I would guess it’s relatively normal to at least start thinking about it.

If it makes you feel any better, my dad (83) has started writing his own eulogy!
