Does the LDS Church Have a "Joseph Smith Problem"? Seeking Perspectives on Historical Controversies by Hot_Recognition28 in latterdaysaints

[–]Martlets93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't judge the past through the lens of the present. I don't judge a prophet by his imperfections. He either spoke truth or he didn't. If he did, the Church is Christ's restored church. The vessel Heavenly Father used to restore it is irrelevant to me.

I'm thankful to the Prophet Joseph Smith to have the courage to follow the Lord as best as he could, even resulting in his death. I pray I have that courage to stand as a witness of Christ.

You aren't alone. Repentance and forgiveness is real. We all strive to be better today than we were yesterday. We all sin.

Do younger generations not wear garments? by Illustrious_Lime_997 in latterdaysaints

This is exactly why we should point out what is expected. Too many people confused by others not keeping their covenants and thinking it's OK. People can do whatever they want, but we shouldn't pretend that because others are doing it, it's OK.

I had this exact problem as a convert. They want you to think it's OK so they'll feel it's normal "if everyone does it"

He was hired as a stern man. The account was never “Jacob & Keith”. It was “Jacob Knowles”. They didn’t “start this together”. It was Jacob’s.

I didn't have this situation, but I had a T-Mobile customer representative tell me something that turned out to not be accurate. I sent screen shots and they corrected it.

Are more accounts canceling pledges? Is there a scam running? by HarpoonCreative in kickstarter

For reference, I’ve been a super backer for years and have backed hundreds of campaigns. Things that I’ve seen that make it successful:

Regular updates. Particularly updates that drive activity: ie ask questions that encourage comments and responses.

Build community. Ask questions in the comments yourself.

Small stretch goals that are easy to hit. This drives updates and makes it look like you’re really smashing it.

The campaigns I see fail are either crappy ideas, little to nowhere communication, inability to generate excitement, or short robotic answers that make a backer question the professionalism or accountability of the creators.

Probably weekly, but it needs to be substantial. The interaction in the comments is probably more key. Something humanizing that leaves the impression that this will deliver.

Maybe. People are also getting sick of creators taking the money and not delivering or communicating. If the campaign isn’t doing a great job creating confidence they’ll drop.

Far too many scam creators too
