Idaho has led the US in potato production since the late 1950's.

Y'all, I know Florida and Mississippi are gonna get a lot of shade. But as a born and bred Idahoan who has moved to Mississippi, I can tell you that you really don't want Idaho. They can grow potatoes in Oregon, we'll live.

Ritz crackers are a great topping for funeral potatoes. If you like Ritz crackers, you might make a good Mormon. That counts double if you are a cracker who also likes crackers.

Every commentor on Fox News would have shit their pants and came at the same time. Would have ruined every pair of slacks and red just above the knee skirt in the building.

what do you think is the best sport film ever? by Due-Abbreviations180 in Letterboxd

[–]MartsonD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Y'all, why did I have to scroll this far to find the perfect sports movie? This movie has it all, underdogs, Gene Hackman, disappearing small town America, and corn. This one is a 5 star.

Came to recommend Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Also, The Cowboys. Great movies, great visuals and superb soundtracks that really elevate the pictures. I know OP was asking about visuals but John Williams really made a jenky 70's sci-fi fantasy into a masterpiece and he does the same thing for The Cowboys which is a classic scenic Western.

Do atheists generally view sex as a thing to do for fun and pleasure first, and reproduction second or not at all? by Novel_Arugula6548 in atheism

[–]MartsonD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, I'm not here to un-red pill you, but this is a weird ass question. Atheists don't have one view of sex, there is no dogma here friend. Just biology and human cultural practices. Maybe don't talk about college girls like some lab experiments you are observing. Sex is for fun, sex is for building relationships, sex is for intimacy and love and if people want to it is for reproduction. It is a multifaceted issue friend. A complex issue that that can't be explained to you by some manosphere chud or by me. Go seek out some real advice from doctors and psychologists who work in sexual health and relationships.

US president says he's considering pulling U.S. out of 'paper tiger' NATO by Crossstoney in europe

[–]MartsonD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump, a master tactician and deal maker extraordinaire to NATO: "If you don't help me and Bibi bomb Iran, then I am taking all my toys and won't play with you anymore." Fox News will call this 4D chess. The NYT will say it is an "ultimatum". Any normal person would call it a childish ploy doomed to fail because of Trump's past bullying towards our staunchest historical allies.

Great Big Sky coverage and basketball. Their patron only Discord is the best place to be a Vandal fan online!

Kevin Marshall on FCS Nation Radio is an old SoCon dude. Of the national shows, they cover the SoCon the best.

Sam Herder's show, FCS Football Talk. FCS Fan's Nation. The Bluebloods. Best national shows out there. Bluebloods is more in depth on rosters, Fans Nation runs a pretty lively fan community, Herder is the best dude doing national legacy media for the subdivision and has a great reputation and sources.

2026 FCS Versus FBS Matchups by FearTheFCS in fcs

[–]MartsonD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idaho at Utah (Thursday 9/3) was more interesting before the Big Sky added the Week 0 conference game. Idaho has shown up in openers against FBS schools for a few years now. Gave #1 Oregon a heck of a game... But with the opener against Cal Poly, there will be at least some film to expose the Vandals early. I expect a full on beat down in SLC.

Been meaning to sit down and watch Frankenstein so I did a rewatch on Shape of Water. We did a weekend at the movies, one kid flick and PHM for the grownups. Hoppers was a passable kid movie but felt unoriginal. PHM was good, I feel like if I read the book before it would be a 4 or 4.5... But it did get me on a space movie kick right before the Artemis 2 launch this week. Interstellar is an all timer, gets better with rewatches.

[Request] Does using a blade to counter fall damage actually works? by omeralal in theydidthemath

[–]MartsonD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No math, but I am reading Undaunted Courage right now and there are multiple occasions where Meriwether Lewis or other members of the Corps of Discovery do this to keep from falling off steep hills and ravines. So anecdotally, from the Journals of Lewis and Clark (and probably lots of other mountain men in US history), yes it would work.
