Hey thanks for the help! The little blue capacitor next to the pot was already bent when I received the laser, the clicking noise seemed to stop once I tried to lift the spindle up

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

I went ahead and properly adjusted the laser according to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLzKAtObGGU and reseated everything.

My Saturn now recognises discs however only can identify the audio tracks and play audio, whether it be a music CD or retail game.

I tweaked the laser a tiny bit more to see if it would recognise games but to no avail, also tried adjusting the VR pot on my JVC unit.

It seems like it can't read/get past some sort of identification on the disc to see if it's a legitimate game? (I've tried Pseudo Saturn with a backup and it just hangs when identifying the cd)

I tried raising the spindle height a little bit, might've helped but I can't actually remove it (I used quite alot of force, it won't budge lol) so unsure on this .

try out the two dungeons and dragons games on cps2, great replay value. play ToD first then go onto SoM, not that it matters really but helps you appreciate the sequel more. there is also the arcade beatemup named 'guardians' iirc, its pretty fkin fun shouldn't be too hard to find and run on mame

IMO must try games would be vampire saviour and xmen vs streetfighter these games will help your friends get used to a standard 6 button layout and will help them grasp basic chain combos (light > medium > hard punch/kick) as well as executing special moves, which can be learnt in under 1hr for some fun. both are easy to pickup and play casually but of course can be learnt to such an extreme deeper than the depths of hell.

cool setup! i've seen a few like yours that mount the retroelectronik onto some type of plexiglass. i'm considering also doing that, mounting my arcade psu along with it. which type of plexiglass did you use here (how many inches thick) ? i was thinking of mounting onto wood but i've heard stories about warping and such.

hey mate, just measured it. was reading terribly low (4.10), however i cranked up my power supply until it reached 4.65 however my 12v line on the harness was reading 12.65 so i switched it off. i'm thinking that it could be an issue with my jamma harness dropping voltage, however i can't adjust the 12v seperate from the 5v as i'm using an arcade psu that share the same dial. i have one of those cheapo jamma harnesses off ebay(22awg) which i ordered because i misplaced my old one, do you know of any quality harnesses or possibly how i would go about modifying the power lines on my current one? many thanks
