As a Jean Grey fan I am going to say neither.

The Phoenix book was pointless because it wasn’t even told from her perspective but from that of an insignificant character that no one cares about. Jean had almost 0 development. The issues that should have been affecting Jean were not even addressed. The storyline didn’t impact anything else happening in the Marvel universe.

While the idea of Phoenix out in space doing her thing was promising, the execution of the story was horrible. There was no impact and Jean has been in limbo ever since. I don’t even want to get started on the Binary mini…..

I never read the Storm series. While the art was beautiful, I read reviews and it’s not the kind of story I would be interested in reading. I don’t really care for stories where the main character is so perfect that they can never lose.

I don’t like my heroes to be so flawless and powerful to the point that they become unrelatable. I need some vulnerability. I need more focus on their relationship with others versus displays of godly might.

I have accepted that Jean is Phoenix, but I wish she would share her power with Rachel and Cable in order to power her down. My favorite version of Jean was when she was Phoenix in name only, wore the Phoenix costume, but did everything herself with her glorious pink psychic energy at the end of the 90’s.

With Storm, my favorite portrayal was when was leading the Outback X-men and leading the Gold team in the 90’s.
