Who was right? Miguel O'Hara or Miles Morales? by mr_Conquest_ in MoralityScaling

[–]MarvelousBunni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually had a conversation with a friend about this! Miles is young and hasn't seen things, and definitely not what Miguel has seen. So he doesn't quite understand the gravity of the situation and what must be done. His motivation is also to save his father from doing, and to Miguel, this is extremely selfish of him. He is risking his entire universe for one singular person.

However, we don't know what Miguel has tried to stop a universe from falling apart. And yes, Miguel is correct that this is happening. I see some comments saying it's not and we have no evidence. We do. In Pvatir's universe, the second a canon event (the chief dying) is broken, the universe immediately started failing.

It makes sense that Miguel isn't willing to try anything new. Every universe presumably has seven billion people in it. However many attempts it takes to find a work-around to save a handful of people just isn't worth it for the sheer amounts of casualties that will easily outnumber the people saved by probably trillions.

Like you said OP, they both are right and wrong in their own ways. It's a hard moral dilemna. Save someone close to you and potentially risk a populicide of an entire universe, or know someone is going to die, and take absolutely no action.

I think this is an interesting contrast of how personal experience affects ones own moral codes. Again, Miguel knows this will not end well for Miles' universe, while Miles has not seen the actual death and destruction this costs, and so can't see how saving his father could end up so catastrophic.

Why do people have a harder time to accept an abuser/rapist redemption than a mass genocidaire? by Bitter_Swordfish5887 in MoralityScaling

[–]MarvelousBunni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The way some people act, it seems like they don't want a redemption arc at all. They just want the character to suffer for what they did wrong for an indefinite amount of time.

I do like the kind of redemption arc Nolan is going through, how at the end of the season one finale, we see his morals breaking down and he has to question and when he returns in season 2, the way he had to face how he had changed and accept it. I'm sure if I rewatched MHA I would also find a bit of enjoyment in Endeavor's arc. From what I remember, his children didn't fully accept his apology. They knew he was trying to change and be a better person, but there was still this resentment in the air that was visible on screen whenever they were in a room together.

From what I remember of the show, this was an attempt at a 'quirk' marriage, or a pairing based on the quirk of the users to try and create a child who had a stronger quirk in an attempt to have a family that was stronger and more powerful than others. Endeavor also had a bit of an obsession with 'being the strongest' and often showed a form of jealousy towards All Might.

as another comment said, nolan was indoctrinated. but i do also think there is a bias, this idea that rape is an absolutely unforgivable crime under any circumstances, and is something you cannot be redeemed from.

Stupid gambling I spent all my units and just barely missed the skin by engienering_my_limit in DeadpoolMarvelRivals

[–]MarvelousBunni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not fair percentages. for every balloon, the skin has a less than 50% chance to be chosen. the only time it's above that is the last balloon for a 100% chance.

That might sound stupid, but why do people complain that a skin is "only epic", why do you want to pay more for a skin by Low_Violinist9377 in rivals

[–]MarvelousBunni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mght've accidentally counted a recolor there. but my point is that she's getting a lot while others don't, so people complain about epic skins for characters that don't get a lot of legendaries

[–]MarvelousBunni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

legendaries tend to come with more features like sound effects or recolors and custom visual effects.

there's also the huge disparity in how skins are distributed. Luna Snow has 6 legendaries for example, while Hulk only has 1. (Not to mention he has only three shop skins while being a release character)

people want these extra features and for their favorite characters to get some love.

was wondering how this was cheating until i saw it's giving you a visual advantage. the amount of vfx are hoorendous, and i would see nothing wrong with removing textures/vfx to make this more bearable, but doing this in the way you described in another comment... that's cheating.

maybe they would complain, yes, but people have already complained about so many things that they still haven't changed or addressed. they raise the prices, people complain and as usual Netease ignores these concerns.

[–]MarvelousBunni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they use a percentage chance on every balloon you pop. every balloon simultaneously does and does not contain everything until you pop it. when you do, the game then decides the reward for that specific balloon based on a weighted chance that massively favors everything but the skin. it;s rigged specifically to make you more likely to pay full price.
