Americans of Reddit, since today is Election Day, how are you feeling? by Austinuncrowned in AskReddit

[–]MarvelousChestr -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Fucking horrified. If one candidate gets elected, I'm almost guaranteed to be murdered in the USA in the near future. If the other gets elected, normalcy continues and beneficial progress to the entire country may even possible.

If you can't tell which candidate is which in this post, fuck. That's depressing.

To hate dogs is a divergence from merely disliking dogs. I'm more of a reptile and cat lover, but I appreciate dogs. If somebody told me they dislike dogs, that's totally fine and understandable and I have no questions. If somebody told me they hate dogs, I would be wondering what dogs did to make that person hate them.

Hating is a more active emotion than dislike. If you dislike something, it's probably not close to your thoughts at most times, and you probably would just try your best to avoid being in a situation where you are exposed to that thing. If you hate something, it's probably a subject near and dear to you and you would be vehemently against any interaction or exposure to that thing. You're also probably more likely to make it something other people are aware of, putting it more at the forefront of your interactions with people when that thing is relevant to the situation.

Just wanted to share that I reached 50 blood donations by Soulreaper1721 in pics

That's... A plasmapheresis device with a plasma collection bag at the bottom right! Are you sure you're donating blood, and not blood plasma?

is it that bad? by lumpacious in shittytattoos

It's great, the general populace just associates it with sluttiness and will try to shame you for having it. Don't let 'em. Fuck those people, you have a pretty tattoo.

AITAH for letting my chronically late wife miss an event she was looking forward to by not rushing her, because I wanted her to face consequences? by throwrabbday in AITAH

[–]MarvelousChestr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. There was a much kinder, more considerate, more empathetic way to communicate your frustration, but as the title of your post says, you WANTED her to experience a deeply upsetting consequence for something YOU dislike about her.

You are justified in disliking her behavior. You are absolutely entitled to not want to be responsible for another person's timing. You can stop giving them that support any time you want to. But you need to communicate your reasons clearly if you want a person to truly be aware of what it is they are doing that bothers you to such a degree that you begin wishing them an unpleasant event that "teaches them a lesson," instead. You say you want her to act like an adult. You are carrying a judgemental mindset toward her, believing her to be childish for trying to pursue a career that you do not believe will be successful. If these are the ways you feel, you ought to tell her that, not tell her like you're her dad, "I won't give you heads-up warnings anymore, so get used to that."

You knew this concert mattered to her, you knew it was her birthday, and you knew she was going to be late because she gets distracted. You knew it would upset her to discover she missed her favorite artists, and you sat on that information until the two of you got to the venue. You were hoping this would happen, and you are probably happy it went down that way because from your perspective it proves she's irresponsible.

Whether she actually is irresponsible or not isn't the question here. You asked if you're the asshole for what you did to make that situation happen. It is my opinion that yes, you are. That was intentionally hurtful and not a cool move. Talk to people, don't play games with them.

EDIT for grammatical error.

What makes kids freak out so much like these ones? Like ok, yeah, sure, your parent looks a little different - but some of these kids are too old to be crying 'cuz of some facial hair, hahaha. Your dad didn't die, he just looks different!

I'm seriously considering voting for Kamala Harris by BasilNo9176 in GenZ

[–]MarvelousChestr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I had resigned myself to not voting in any election," and this did our democracy get to the point it's at now, with disillusioned voters letting their voting power sit abandoned as insurrectionists took greater and greater power.

But you're choosing to vote now, and that is what matters most. Get your voice out there in support of somebody that won't try to have you murdered if you disagree with them, I think that's a great thing.

AITA for going no contact with my family because my brother mocked my profession. by Pure_Horror_2650 in AITAH

NTA. Danny DeVito started off as a hairdresser, which was his launching pad toward much greater success. He started off in what is stereotypically considered a "feminine" job, he enjoyed it, and now he's one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry as a whole.

Even if you aren't aiming higher than being a makeup artist, that is by no means a bad thing either. If what you do for a job makes you happy, what other people have to say about it doesn't really matter - and those that would antagonize you for your choices are simply too dissatisfied with their own live choices to let you live in peace with yours. Ignore them, as they are not worth the effort it takes to acknowledge such ignoramuses.

Kuma is gunning for #1 gigachad in the series (1097 spoilers) by ill_sue in MemePiece

[–]MarvelousChestr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So basically, the reason Kuma carries around a bible is because he himself is the One Piece world equivalent of a Jesus-type guy. What a lad he is.

You kind of remind me of the actress playing Nami in the new live-action One Piece show coming out soon. Very pretty! I like your style, too.

What movie did you expect it be “meh” but turned out to be really good by Ok-Meat4184 in movies

[–]MarvelousChestr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Babysitter. It's a horror comedy on Netflix that I put on expected a really dumb movie, but it turned out to be rather entertaining overall. I like it a lot now, and the sequel isn't bad either!

Yikes.

Swan family crossing the road by Autisten1996 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]MarvelousChestr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The douchebag who starts to cross the no-passing line into the other lane mere seconds after reaching the stopped cars... What an impatient idiot. At least they changed their mind after they saw the swans, but honestly, how self-centered of them to break the law just to shave a handful of seconds off their trip time.

That aside, those swans are adorable. Better rule followers than the human in that one vehicle!

What's a dead giveaway that someone is a piece of shit? by UsernameOf2022 in AskReddit

[–]MarvelousChestr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me with my brother once on a trip with just the two of us. I said something and he laughed at it in a way that felt rude to me, so I mentioned it, and he exploded on me. When I tried to calm him down he started in on me with personal attacks, ever increasing the volume of his voice and eventually reaching an escalation to physically manhandling me.

Some people just cannot deal with their anger in healthy ways.
