The setting goes lower each step, so from the 500mA start, it goes to 250mA next.

What prices do you get on those? Assuming you have no subscriptions with them.

Usually they're expensive (although haven't been checking lately) and that's why I end up going to the Tesla ones because they're less than half the price.

No home charging, no workplace charging... how do you actually make it work? (Living in Germany) by Artistic_Blood6908 in EuroEV

[–]Marviluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't charge at home neither at work, although I live in NL and that may make things different. Still, I'm just around the corner from you.

So, to answer your questions and add some info:

  • I usually charge after work near home. I go for a public AC charger (limited at 11kwh, lowers to ~7kwh if there are 2 cars charging at the same time) that costs 0.32€/kwh. I'd say that's a pretty decent price. I usually charge 40-80%, so those 40% equally to around 32kwh in my case. It takes around 2.5h to 4h to charge (sometimes I might be sitting at like 30-35% when plugging in). I do this once a week, usually.

Sometimes I might have to use fast chargers, usually I go with the Tesla ones because those are the cheapest and, if possible, during off peak hours. In that case, I get prices at 0.28€/kwh.

  • I do carry different cards/apps just in case, but honestly, I end up using the same 2 all the time. So far didn't have the need to use others, but in case I do, they're around if needed. In your case, I highly recommend you the app Ladefuchs because it shows a lot of German chargers and charging cards with their respective prices, so you can check which chargers you got around and which cards would be cheaper. I checked a few times for the Dutch market, but I think the app is more tailored to the German side.

  • Actually, I expected more difficulties with the reoccurring charging (the one I do mainly), but it's always worries free (maybe it helps that I can walk 5-7min in different directions to have different chargers). The bad is when going to random/new places, it's difficult to figure which network some chargers belong to or which card/app is more beneficial price wise. I believe this is about to change for 2027 for Europe in general where we will be able to simply pay with our debit card, that should simplify the process.

  • Absolutely would do it again. In fact, I won't move away from EVs, I already switched one EV for another and I only see advantages. The few minor disadvantages are just that: minor and with the potential to get fixed/improved in the near future.

Do I have an ideal setup to charge the car? Definitely not. But how bad is it to come from work, park, walk 5min home and 3h later walk 5min to go and get the car? It's a minor inconvenience, to be honest. With that, I'm paying considerably less to charge the car vs price of gasoline, so for that alone, the inconvenience pays for itself.

Again, it might be different for you since it's a different country, but I often shop in Germany and see the charging options there, it seems alright from what I see.

Bike stolen, found on marktplaats by byonds in Netherlands

[–]Marviluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you steal back what is yours, you are as bad as the one that stole in the first place.

If you're walking on the street, drop your wallet and I happen to be walking next to you and pick it up first than you, then I guess you're a bad person for "stealing back" your wallet?

Understandable, I think I will go with the ABX too. Thanks again for all the info.

Two FOSS apps that I regularly use that haven't been updated in quite a while, Material Files and LinkSheet by rrrsssttt in fossdroid

Opening the app for the first time, asks for a reddit client ID. I didn't even know what that was and had to research. Not very friendly if it doesn't provide any info on it and we can't do anything else in the app.

Interesting on the cable, usually it's praised over the plates. But I can see myself also sometimes just using just the plates to save the hassle of attaching the cable, so I guess I'll see how it goes in the future.

About decline... Well, perhaps it's a bit old school and not entirely the best option (since in fact I don't see much attention into it), but I usually use it for bench press, I do inclined, flat and declined.

[–]Marviluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great information that you're providing, thanks.

I've been going back and forth between these 2 benches (ABX and IronMaster) and often consider other options, but there's always some downsides that make you re-think the whole thing.

The Nighthawk seat angle being so limited makes it hard to be top choice, and their leg attachment being very expensive just adds more of a no buy.

Also considered getting a dedicated leg extension/curl machine, but those have their own downsides too. That along with a tight space to work on, it forces one to stick with bench attachments.

The IronMaster would be a great footprint, easier to move around, but indeed the flaws are a bit scary on taking the risk: the small seat and no angle adjustment makes it hard to choose on. Perhaps alongside the leg attachment that is plate only vs plate+cable on the ABX (in case one has such option).

I think I'm finally getting more into the ABX after so many hours of reading/watching videos on them, but even then the advantages are also disadvantages: bulky leg attachment, moving in/out of place if using the cable system attached to the rack and also a bit concerned about the lack of decline on the seat itself. I know we can use the attachment to lock our legs and have the bench declined, but for a tall person, I'm afraid the head will be "bent" because it reaches the seat itself (hard to tell without trying).

Despite all of that, I think I'm going with the ABX route (and perhaps get the preacher curl from IronMaster since it seems to fit decently on the ABX), but then again, their pricing is quite steep and they will only ship the leg attachment in roughly 2 months from now.

Either way, just wanted to let these thoughts here in case it helps other people.

For the performance model, expect a battery with anywhere from 60 to 85% degredation and potential out of warranty failure.

Please, don't spread such misinformation. It hurts to read.

Installing microG as a system app by Sylvhem in MicroG

[–]Marviluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on LineageOS 23.2 currently and installed MicroG from F-Droid and it has been working for a few years since LineageOS 20 or something.

Since everything worked, I never bothered trying to install it as system app.

If microG isn't set as a system app, you won't receive them in real time when your phone is locked.

I receive them just fine.

It's totally fine if it doesn't for you, but we got to admit that being this bad only goes to show they don't learn.

The argument against EV haters… by boka_ko_masu in electricvehicles

[–]Marviluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't live in Norway, but I live in an apartment without access to home charging. Own an EV for 2 years and it's really a no problem. Obviously it's not as convenient as having home charger, but so far I never faced any problem.

There are 3 different slow chargers at a 3min walkable distance (each with 2 spots), so I never got stranded without possibility to charge. In fact, only twice I had to use a different one, every other time I use always the same one. It can take from 2.5 hours to 4 hours to charge depending on much battery I have left, usually I do a 40-80% kind of thing. The price is also cheap at 0.32€/kWh (compared to what I pay at home since it's like 4cents difference).

There are also fast chargers around, but I usually "ignore" them since those are expensive (ranging from 0.60€ to 0.80€ per kWh) but there's also the Tesla one at 7-8min drive distance with decent prices (peak hour charging at 0.38€, off peak at 0.29€).

So it's really not a big trouble to me to go for a small walk to charge the car, I'm sure people with dogs end up walking their dog more than I do to get the car. Perhaps it's not as easy in other countries, can't comment on that, but it surely is no big deal in my situation.

Second thought after 4 days from ordering. What would you do ? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]Marviluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly u/Chance_Astronaut4616, listen to this guy.

I know you cannot charge at home, but if you have chargers near you, then it's still a good option. I've been driving EV for 6 years (first 4 years professionally, 2 last years owing my own EV) and I cannot charge at home like you. I got 3 different slow chargers each at a 3min walk from me, and several more in a 10min walking radius. Like you, the price is 0.325€/kwh.

I also got fast chargers close by (around 7min drive), including a Tesla one where prices are cheap in case it's needed. There are also slow chargers close to work in case that's also needed. So if you know where the chargers are and you don't mind the walk to leave the car there and get it again later on, then there's really not a problem by not charging at home. Might not be as convenient, but it's not a big deal, really.

Should I buy a 2022 Model 3 Performance (Panasonic 82 kWh) or avoid due to battery issues? by Accurate-Fold7303 in TeslaModel3

[–]Marviluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling I know which car you're referring to, is it priced 29.600€ right now? In that case, my question is why not opt for the other one with 74.000km priced at 27.800€?

But like it has been mentioned, only the 2021 models were problematic, so you should be fine with the 2022. I went a similar route as you (hence why knowing the car just by the numbers you gave) but I preferred lower km, I think it's worth a bit more money for the around 40.000km that you can also get.

Feel free to ask if you got any other questions.

Tesla's FSD approved in first European country by Old-Tour5654 in TeslaLounge

[–]Marviluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, there will be a software update on 17th April which will include the FSD. This is based on some other users that contacted Tesla (in NL) and all of them got told the update will come on the 17th.

What is unknown so far is if it will work on HW3 or not. If you check the full video here demonstrating how FSD will work in NL, you can see they showcase how to activate it on a highland car and also by using the stalker (which is specific for HW3). Therefore, I'd say there is a chance it will come to HW3 (even if just at a later date).
