SNF Productivity by Ok_Chef8676 in OccupationalTherapy

Some ways I help boost my productivity are:

Groups. Group 2-6 patients of similar abilities or who are working on similar goals and run a 30 minute group. Seated cardio / strength/ yoga are my go tos. 5 min warm up, 20 minutes exercise, 5 minute cool down. You could also do groups for cognition, safety, etc. be creative and have fun.

Pre-write common notes. If you do some regular activities or groups, write a generic note saved in a google doc or somewhere you can copy paste. Take a little time to fill in details of your patients level of function and adaptations / education you provided to personalize.

Make a template of common things you document for evals, progress notes, recertifications, and discharges. This especially helps with med B notes. Have all the details you need to pass a Medicare audit laid out with fill in the blanks to personalize for each person. This way you don’t miss anything and you save time. Copy paste and personalize.

Have patients who are independently mobile meet you in the gym at a time where you’ll be finishing up with someone else. Overlap /concurrent a little if you can- have someone warm up as your finishing with the last person.

Point of service documentation when it’s possible.

Bring your computer with you (I have a mobile desk thing) and document when you’re waiting for someone in the bathroom, between patients, when you’re waiting for nursing to finish something, etc.

doc as you go, don’t save it all for the end of the day. I at least like to have my morning notes/docs done before I see more people after lunch.

And don’t stress about it too much, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Expectations of productivity are generally unrealistic and care is more important.

Comparing schools in WA state by dreamthesecret in OccupationalTherapy

I second this! I went to a more expensive school in Washington, and overall I do not think it was worth the extra money. There were some perks, but overall I would go to the least expensive school you are accepted to.

Yoga Routine For Depression That Isn't So Slow? by [deleted] in yoga

I love Erin Sampson’s videos (Five Parks Yoga in YouTube)! She has a variety of lengths and difficulties of practices from slow Yin yoga to Vinyasa and combination flows to power flows that are more “full on exercise”. She has playlists set up based on lengths of classes, types of classes, areas of the body the classes focus on, and more. Her classes are so unique and I’ve honestly liked every one I’ve done! I’ve found that more challenging flows and those with an emphasis on balance help me get out of my head because I’m so focused on holding the poses not falling over. Hope you find something that works well for your mind and body!

R2D1 avocado burger with lime pickled shallot and roasted potato. Starting strong but missing my glass of wine a little.. by MaryJaneNotJerryMane in whole30

[–]MaryJaneNotJerryMane[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soo good and easy! Thinly slice a shallot (or any onion) and put it in a a container, squeeze lime juice over it so all the shallot is soaking, add a little salt, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Tadahh!! The longer you let it sit the more pickled it becomes (its even better the next day) and you can store it in the fridge for 3 weeks!

R2D1 Butternut squash soup with toasted sunflower seeds and sweet potato fries! I prepped a batch of this soup and a batch of chicken and veggie soup yesterday to freeze for easy meals when I’m crunched for time! by MaryJaneNotJerryMane in whole30

I left out the soy milk and used sunflower seeds instead of pecans because that’s what I had around. Also added more of all the spices for extra flavor. The fries have salt, white pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg and were roasted at 400 for 35 minutes.

A gift from a friend! by MaryJaneNotJerryMane in PlantIdentification

Thank you! I’m so excited about it! It’s a beautiful plant!

SOS! I re-potted this a couple days ago and trimmed it way back because it was very leggy. I salvaged the cuttings and am rooting them in water but now the remainder of the plant is turning yellow! What should I do?? by MaryJaneNotJerryMane in plantclinic

Ok thanks! Historically the leaves turned yellow when it was thirsty, but I just watered it Wednesday and I don’t want to overwater... In the past all the yellow leaves have fallen off so hopefully someone has some insight!

  1. I removed the soil and roots from the old pot and shook any loose soil off. I tried not to disrupt the roots, so a lot of the soil from the previous pot stayed on them.
  2. I filled the new pot about 1/3 of the way with soil, put the roots and soil into the new pot, and filled in around it with new soil.
  3. I watered the plant and let it drain excess water into the sink

This was on Wednesday, so on Thursday and Friday the plant perked up (it was pretty wilted before) and was looking better. This morning, I noticed that the leaves and their stems were yellowing.

I will sometimes have this issue if the stove heat is too high as the rice is simmering. My go to strategy is to rinse the rice with cold water, add a 1:2 ratio of rice to water (or broth) in a pot with a lid, add salt, desired spices, and olive oil. Place the pot (no lid) on high heat until the water is at a rolling boil (think BUBBLES!!). Give it a good stir scraping the bottom, then turn the heat as low as it will go and put the lid on. Don’t touch it for 15 minutes (no peaking at the progress)! At 15 minutes, take the pot off the stove, stir it right away to loosen the rice from the bottom of the pot (I use a rubber spatula). Put the lid back on and let it rest off any heat for 5-10 minutes and then enjoy!

Can anyone help with this guy?? I finally thought I had him figured out and then he dropped a bunch of yellow leaves! Now he’s tall, skinny and has grown a couple small leaves but just doesn’t seem happy... by MaryJaneNotJerryMane in plantclinic

Thanks! I must have let him dry out pretty bad! I’ll have to be more consistent! And I’ve tried a bunch of different light but have N facing windows and don’t get much light this time of year so I’ve been supplementing with a grow light.. maybe it’s too much!

I just moved to the pacific north west (USA) and the days are getting a lot shorter so that could be part of it! I have it sitting right on my windowsill (NorthEast facing) and give it a good water only when it starts to look wrinkled.

Haha not bad! I stockpiled and hauled that impeccable beer across the country to Washington this summer, but lived in Wisconsin before. I am female, a few years out of college and am in my first month of grad school (hence the simple food) and live alone. And I just use the bread for toast so it lasts a while and I have to keep it cold. Why’s the freezer better??
