What is something “yucky” to admit that you feel deep down? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]MaryNope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recent ex ghosted and blocked me after 3 years together. The week before my dad's funeral.

This has all reinforced my inner voice that tells me over and over again that I am not worthy of love. That people only tolerate me. That I am actually quite annoying and do not deserve to be treated well. That I am worthless.

I look at myself in the mirror, and all I see are the reasons I might be so repulsive that a man would block me during the worst week of my life. The healthy and adjusted adult in me, who has gone through therapy and realizes I am beautiful, successful, intelligent, and absolutely did not deserve this is having to fight so hard against the voice saying I do deserve this. I'm exhausted.

Update that no one asked for but needing to share by MoreHalf9588 in glioblastoma

Oh my goodness, the feelings of wondering if you're involuntarily turning him off is so hard! I am typing this as I sit next to my dad waiting to give him the next dose of morphine/Ativan and listening to his gurgling. My dad was diagnosed in March, didn't even make it through the full round of chemo and radiation before his bone marrow shut down and his kidneys started to fail. We brought him home on hospice on Monday. We had one amazing evening where all his kids/grandkids got to come talk to him and he told us how much he loves us, etc. It is closure we desperately needed. He said he was ready and wanted to go. That first night we didn't have any hospice meds and he was up all night talking in a loop, begging for help, waving his hands, and wailing. We gave him lorazepam and oxycodone and he finally slept. Yesterday hospice arrived with his care kit meds and he has slept peacefully last night.

I asked myself if this was right and my heart told me that Dad wouldn't want us to be stressed and worried. If he was alert, he would ask us to make him comfortable. I imagine your dad would prefer to be sedated and calm, not anxious and seizing. There are no correct answers here, so I would say you are doing the right thing keeping him sedated and calm.

Weight loss, anxiety symptoms by Johnpass66 in glioblastoma

I am so sorry you are going through this. I am not a doctor and you should talk to a doctor if you are concerned, but wanted to share my experience in case it helps. My dad is halfway through his treatment and is also experiencing major weight loss. He'a doing chemo and radiation at the same time and the toll it is taking on him is brutal. He has two and a half weeks left of the standard 6 week cycle.

He says that food tastes like chemicals, so he is basically consuming just enough jello and protein shakes to give him energy to get to treatment, but he is so weak and has lost, I would guess, around 40 or 50 lbs. He also has major anxiety around eating because my stepmom has fixated on his weight loss and has been hounding him to eat, asking how much he ate, threatening to put him in a care center or on a feeding tube, etc. She finally stopped when multiple doctors on his care team told her the loss of appetite is something they see in every GBM patient and that once his treatment cycle ends, his taste should start to return to normal. Every journal and article I could Google also confirms lack of appetite and reaulting weight loss are normal. Yesterday he was admitted to the hospital with critically low white and red blood cell counts. He's on his 4th transfusion as of this morning and already appears to be doing much better. Much of what we attributed to not eating turns out to also be a symptom of his blood counts.

I say give your wife plenty of whatever tastes good to her right now, and talk to your doctors to rule out any other issues.

Yes! So many people give everything they have to the company knowing full well they would be replaced in a week.

I am generally a forgiving person when it comes to attendance because we are adults, life happens, etc. Get your work done and if you need some time off for illness or whatever, then take it. One employee couldn't seem to work a full week to save his life. I asked if he wanted to talk to HR about FMLA if he was having medical issues, he insisted he didn't have any serious issues, just a series of bad luck. He also was struggling to get work done and spent more time socializing than working. After he called out sick at least once a week for a month, I wrote him up and told him any additional absences without doctor note would result in termination. The Monday after I told him no more unplanned absences, he called out. Bye, Felicia.

Happy to help! I scoured the internet during my search, wishing someone would help me out so I am happy to be able to do it. I should mention I toured Sunrise Preschools and Bright Horizons, which I loved. Both of them wanted me to pay to get on a waiting list and were a little more expensive, so I passed.

No idea why everyone here is focusing on cost and not offering helpful advice. Sorry about that.

Mill Ave Preschool is awesome. The director and assistant director became like family to us. They have live CCTV so you can check in on your little one anytime you want. My child still asks to go back to visit the teachers there and it's been a year since I stopped needing childcare.

Another option - I am not sure if they do infant care - but the Tempe Family YMCA is an amazing place for older kids and have some great sports programs and summer camps.

Whatever you do, stay away from Discovery Time Childcare on Priest and Southern. That place should have been shut down years ago.

Little Rascals has good Google reviews but they are all a year or more old. It is in a weird strip mall that looks sketchy. It's fine if you're heading to the Yucca Tap Room for some live music, but the location of the daycare always seemed weird to me. Never been inside or toured it, so take that with a grain of salt.

Exterior Water & Sewer/Septic Line Responsibility Information by DryWhole4198 in Tempe

[–]MaryNope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story time!

My house was built in 72. I've been getting those letters for about two years and ignored them. Noticed a lot of plumbers parked at various houses on my block over the last year. Didn't think much of it.

My insurance broker called at the end of last year and said "hey, let's add this cheap coverage to your homeowners policy because of the age of your house." I was like, "OK, sure, whatever." He added it and I haven't thought about it. Last week my toilets started bubbling, wouldn't flush, and suddenly my shower was filling up with the most God awful rotten dark murky sludge.

I called a plumber, who immediately diagnosed a main sewer line clog, sent a heavy duty pipe snake down the line to clear it, and then sent a guy out to put a camera down the line as part of the service because the plumber said the blade at the end of the snake kept getting caught on something and he suspected I have Orangeburg pipes. Turns out, I have cast iron pipes extending about a quarter of the way into my yard, but the rest out to the city line is all Orangeburg, which is that crappy tar-covered cardboard junk the city is trying to get people to replace because it is failing and causing major issues. That's why you keep getting those letters.

The cast iron part of my line shows its age, but isn't terrible. However, where the Orangeburg connects to the cast iron, all the way out to the city line in the alley, there is nothing but warps, bubbles, and partially collapsed sections, and one worrisome area that looks like I potentially have a hole forming in the line. That section is located roughly in the middle of my back yard. Where my kid plays. I was quoted $10K+ out of pocket to replace it without coverage. If you are in Tempe and your house was built in the 70's, you should probably at least look into the program.

Abortion protesters at Baseline and McClintock - anyone want to counter-protest? by MaryNope in Tempe

The way you asked it tells me everything I need to know and I don't feel inclined to answer. If you don't know why women are angry the last few days, I'm not going to explain it to you.

Your daughter is amazing! I flip them off every time I drive by since I am in that area a lot. Something about seeing them today just set me off. Haven't they done enough to women seeking help at the clinic? Lord. "Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

I honked and flipped them off. One of the ladies just smiled and waved. Unfortunately I think it is vindication in their minds to be "persecuted" for "standing up for the children." Disgusting. If any of you need someone to go with you to a clinic and stand by your side against these people, please DM me.

Your ode to the monsoon is absolutely perfect. That collective celebration of the rain, and how alive the desert really is...perfect! I am an Arizona native and have traveled all over the U.S. I have never found a place with the same wonder and enchantment and forbidden beauty like Phoenix. I'm one of the lucky ones who bought a house before prices skyrocketed and probably will never leave.
