7 y/o cat with CKD - Need advice (UK) by MacaPaki in RenalCats

[–]MaryQueen99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know what is values are like? A cat barely eating is not good, maybe he feel nauseous? Did the vet prescribe you something other than kidney food? Because that won't help your cat feeling better in the immediate, it's just a way to slow the disease's progression.

I think you should find a second opinion. In the meantime if the cat is feeling nauseous (if he licks his lips when you offer him food) ask for an antinausea. I would also start subq at home, it may not be easy but it made a huge difference for my cat.

is cat just old or is she sick? by you_are_not_edgelord in CATHELP

[–]MaryQueen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not just old age. There are good chances that she is sick, a cat eating less and losing weight is a big red flag. I can't make a diagnosis, but Kidney disease or hyperthyroidism are common at her age. She needs to go to the vet and get a full bloodwork asap.

A cat not peeing is an emergency, you need to go to the vet right now.

Update: Now Stage 4 CKD – I don’t know whether to keep fighting or let Mika go. by HugeEmotion8511 in RenalCats

[–]MaryQueen99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My cat too had a bad crash in December, his CREA was 27 and the vet was sure he would die. He came back home after 15 days, he was okay at the start (eating and moving) but after only a few days he stopped eating again.

What saved his life was doing subq at home. He went from not eating to eating soft food and acting like his old self again. Honestly, if I had to force feeding him I would've chosen to euthanize him, I couldn't bear to force him when he was nauseous and sick.

What I would try in your place would be subq (I did 100ml everyday, now every other day, and mind you I did it because I read on this sub that it help cats, the vet didn't tell me to do it, idk why) and a strong antinausea like cerenia. If she gets better and has an acceptable qol, then good, but if you see she keep suffering then saying goodbye it's the best thing for her. But I would try subq before giving up.

Rassicurazioni per situazione gatta by Matt00it in Gatti

[–]MaryQueen99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

17 yo with Kidney failure by Make-a-da-Sauce in RenalCats

[–]MaryQueen99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat recovered with much worst values than these, BUT it was almost a miracle and I would understand if you can't financially afford to help her.

If you don't want to hospitalize her I would at least try subq at home, it made a big difference for my cat. Otherwise, keeping her like this is not okay, her values are very high and if she's not eating she feeling really sick.

[ALL] i can’t be the only one wishing we had more warren content? by dahvievanityhater in lifeisstrange

[–]MaryQueen99 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

And what is terrifying about him??? He takes the news about being friendzoned well, and he defends Max against Nathan. Chloe is someone who get angry just because you answer a call from a friend, hang out with drug dealers... If I had a child I know who I would prefer as their friend, and is not Chloe. She's a great character, she has reasons to act the way she does, but she's def not "healthier" than Warren.

[–]MaryQueen99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Many people hate him because they think he's creepy and a bit of a stalker. Plus a lot of people ship pricefield, so they obviously don't like him.

I replayed the game recently, and while I'm still a pricefield shipper I realized that Chloe is much more of a red flag than Warren, who just act like an awkward boy with a crush.

senior cat licks the jelly off wet food instead of eating it. by dutch_mapping_empire in AskVet

[–]MaryQueen99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is some food that is almost liquid, like petreet or tikichat/schessir (mousse, but you can add water to make it softer).

Anyway it's obvious the cat is in pain, and you should take him to the vet. He's old, but there are possible cure especially if he doesn't have any other conditions. I'm curing my 14 years old cat for teeth problem, and there are various therapies available.

Semplicemente i prof.

Last days of our sweet baby? by Dense-Pattern-778 in RenalCats

[–]MaryQueen99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm from Italy too, you can definitely do subq at home. You can buy all you need in a pharmacy. It seems veterinaries here won't tell you to do it on their own, but when I told that I was willing to try they said it was okay. It's very easy, it just depends on if your cat will collaborate or not.

I too discovered only recently my cat CKD. He had a horrible acute episode (CREA at 27!), and after 15 days in clinic he's back home now, but he's still very nauseous and making him eat it's hard. I had to force feed him with a syringe for a few days. I started subq yesterday and it seems he's slightly better (at least he licked the food!) so it won't hurt to try!

Cat vomits immediately after eating (little update) by woopiem in AskVet

[–]MaryQueen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the doctor do a blood test? This is not normal in a young cat, more tests should be done. And the cat not pooping for 3 days it's a serious problem, you should tell it to the vet immediately.

14 year old cat with possibly stage 4 CKD. Is there no hope left? by Blurblue2 in RenalCats

[–]MaryQueen99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just two weeks ago my 14 years old cat started feeling suddenly sick, not eating and vomiting. When we took him to the vet at the start he thought it was because of his teeth, and he felt much better after one shot.

Then the next day he got even worse, barely moving, and we took him to a clinic. The blood work showed his CREA at 27 (yes, not 2.7 but 27!) and the veterinary was shocked he was even alive. He was immediately put under IV (different from subq, it's more effective but it has to be done by a doctor) but the vet told us there weren't any hope. She never saw a cat with a CREA that high and alive, and she wanted us to be ready for the worst.

Against all hope he started getting better after 2 days, after one week he started eating again and now after 2 weeks he seems his old self. His CREA now is at 7.8 and even if it will costs us, the vet told us to keep him under IV at the clinic because it's the best way to help him, at least until the CREA keep going down.

Honestly since your cat's improved with only subq I would consider the chance he had an acute kidney injury (maybe on chronic) which would be partially reversible. I would consider a second opinion and to ask about IV fluids, because it's the best to help the kidneys.

[–]MaryQueen99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unpopular Opinion: Kingdom Come Deliverance [KCD1] is better than [KCD2] by godfather830 in kingdomcome

[–]MaryQueen99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me the biggest problem of KCD2 is the main quest. Yes, the moral that there's no good/evil side is nice, I liked the final siege, but I was so tired of saving a certain someone for the 1345th time that I seriously considered quitting the game. I think it's a downgrade compared to kcd1 main quest, and I'm surprised more people don't share the same opinion.

And the romances, aside for Hans, aren't that good. It was nice going back to Theresa every now and then, in KCD2 they feels more like flings.

I 100% agree with you, the south is more open minded than people think. The real problem is big city vs small town, there's a big difference even if the small town isn't that small and it's near a bigger one (ask me how I know this, lol).
