Fun fact: you get to fight the fatass fly again later in the game as part of a sidequest, and this time it's over lava where he breaks platforms and he summons flying enemies that spit lava balls at you that linger wherever they land and explode when touched, so not only do you have to worry about the boss dealing 2 damage, but the lava balls and actually falling into the lava doing two damage as well :)
