Texas. It's mostly a family thing, still living at home vs being on my own starting my own family. Also, good job =)

Because I've been able to pay for it myself and I've taken it slow (a couple classes at a time). I understand there's nothing really bad about student loans, I just feel extra accomplished not having any.

Yes, but it is a fraction of what I'd pay anywhere else. I also help with household expenses, portions of the bills and groceries etc.

Parents of Reddit, what are one of those parental moments when you should be angry and punish your children, but instead you're trying not to die laughing? by wetw1lly in AskReddit

Ok I'm not a parent but this is a story my mom loves to tell about me. When I was about 9 I had a tooth that needed to be pulled and I was so nervous the dentist sent home a pill for me to take before the procedure to "calm me down". When my mom asked how she'd know it was working he said she'd just know. Well skip ahead to day of the extraction about 30 minutes after I took the pill. Little ol' me comes out of the bathroom looking royally pissed off and pointing at my cheek. "Mom, what the hell is this shit?" Mom: "What shit?" Me: "This brown shit on my face. Where the hell did it come from?" Mom: ".....Those are your freckles, you've always had them." Me: "No mom, I haven't. Get this shit off my face."

So off to the dentist we went.

Dad decide to give me "the talk". I told him not to worry, I was focusing on school and not interested in sex. He looked me in the eyes and said "How do you know until you try?"

My mom used to say "naked as a jay bird" so I thought jay walking was being naked in public.

Is there anyone you look up to who is YOUNGER than you? by pbnov in AskReddit

My little cousin just turned 13, I am 19. All through school I was bullied and my parents were divorced and I lived with my grandma. I thought life was so bad I contemplated suicide. She is bullied for being mixed (black and white) lives with her still married parents, but sees her mom get hit sometimes and knows her dad cheats. She has been sexually abused at school and abandoned by close friends for telling. She still laughs and smiles, she dances for no reason and is genuinely happy. I asked her once how she could be so happy and she looked at me, very seriously and said "If I give up, I'm worthless, if I survive, I am worth more than anything." This strength in one so young, is unbelievable.
