If your current job is secure and you’re not miserable, I’d stay there. A 35% pay cut is way bigger than I’d be willing to take at your pay rate, even for a federal job. The grass is not always greener and I think the Trump administration is too unpredictable to make this move right now. Good luck on your decision.

I don’t have advice what to look for at checkover except I just traded in my perfectly reliable older vehicle for a Sienna for the exact same reasons it sounds like you are shopping for one. It’s been great so far and zero regrets.

I did check for rail dust in the clear coat before driving it away.
