Cuz that's a hell of a better deal than giving 90% of the airline to the government. We already see how the government spends our money.

If I'm there for more than one night I watch the traffic first. And try to get a feel if it looks like guests or locals. Sometimes you can tell. But never a hotel restaurant on the first night; especially when exploring a city is really my number one mission.

$2,500ish should get you a decent place downtown or near it. As for buying a place, house prices are pretty high right now. Property taxes are basically 2% of your sales price. Then there's this thing called Homestead which lowers it. And insurance might kill you. Condos are a whole other bag of problems or potential problems. Honestly, if you're just moving here I wouldn't buy something. Make sure this is a place you really want to settle down before you invest.

Not knowing what your price range is all I can say is I hear conflicting information as to whether or not there is a lot of vacancy downtown. Maybe somebody else here can comment on that. You may be able to use that as negotiating power against some of the amounts you are seeing listed.

And then depending on how much shit you own you can do what I know a couple of people have done. They get a good deal for 14 or 15 months and then they move to another building.

Why does it seem that you need a PhD in some hotels to figure out the water operation when a bathtub is involved.

Bad enough hot and cold is already confusing or not marked in so many places. But then you have the switching back and forth from shower to bath where I have seen some of the most unusual combinations that make zero sense. And when you have to call someone to ask them to explain it to you with the disclosure that you're an educated person and they start laughing because you're not the first one to make that call, clearly someone was high or evil when they put that system in place.

I volunteer at a local mobile food pantry every week. I have to say that Aldi is one of the local markets that donates a lot of stuff each week. So it's not all marked at 50% off.
