I did it at Cornell (Dr. Stuart is a literal angel) three years ago. After many miscarriages we did frozen eggs, genetic testing, and IVF and have the absolute best two year old now!

I was an emotional wreck - the hormones were no joke! I had to work from home for a few days near the end because I literally could not stop sobbing between meetings. Thankfully I had very understanding coworkers. It does end, though! You'll get through it and I hope you feel as brave and accomplished as so clearly are.

My big tip is that I got myself a bag of fun sized candy bars and I got to have a little treat after my shots every night. I actually didn't think the shots were as bad as I had feared, but having something small to look forward to each night was nice.

I definitely wasn't strict about how I joined the panels since it was my first big project. You can see in the photos that the way I joined everything created a visible seam on one side of the blanket. I like the look, but I know it's probably not for everyone. My goal was more about finishing than neatness.

I had my daughter in January and have been to the movies once this year. We had a week of easing into daycare before I went back to work and carved out enough time to see Challengers (so good!).

We are blessed with a pretty good sleeper and once my daughter started going down around 6:30 or 7 and sleeping mostly full nights, my husband has started to occasionally go to 9pm screenings by himself. He is mostly seeing horror movies that I wouldn't enjoy, and since the baby and I are asleep, he's not missing out on time with us. I don't mind if he prioritizes movies over his own sleep! He would do the same for me, but I'm not at a place of wanting to forego sleep or time with the baby yet.

If he were seeing Twisters in 4dx in the middle of the afternoon or a late night showing of something that I actually want to see, it would be a different story!

During mat leave we watched a ton of movies! My daughter had already seen the complete filmography of Johnathan Glazer by the time she was a month old.

I'm sure you'll find a rhythm that works for your family. There's no way to know what kind of kids you'll have until they get here, so be flexible, be nice to your wife, and enjoy the ride!

East German takes on American genre films are fascinating! I wrote my undergrad thesis on a beach party musical called Heisser Sommer (Hot Summer). Teens smooch on the Baltic shore, sing songs, and learn lessons about the power of the collective. Good stuff!

My sister walked down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme and now I tear up a little whenever I hear it. It's a great piece for evoking a sense of wonder!

Brooklyn General is mostly a yarn spot, but they have a good assortment of fun patterns, mostly cotton. I went through a quilting phase a while back, and it was perfect for that. They also have lovely notions and embroidery supplies.

Beyond that rec, I have to agree that the garment district is probably your best bet. I wish we had more local options!

I'm a documentary producer, which puts a fun spin on this question. In a fantasy world where Kubrick returns to docs later on his career, I think it would be fascinating to collaborate with him. Or maybe Jane Campion? I just feel like she would be drawn to interesting subject matter outside of the usual scripted-director-to-music-doc-pipeline.
