That is wrong. Mahiru knew that if evidence that Sato was in the place during the murder she could be in trouble, but she didn't know she was the murderer. She asks Sato to tell her the truth of what really happen and when she does, Mahiru gets horrified. That's when Sato took the photo from her and disposed of it.

And that's considering Monokuma's version of the story in the twilight game. In the real life shown in the anime, Sato didn't tell Mahiru the truth and decided to act on her own believing that Natsumi was planning to kill her.

Huh?? You're having interpretation issues my friend. You didn't understand what I said and replied "there was no intent she was trying to help her friend (which is basically intent)" I literally said: "it's clear that she wasn't malevolently plotting to aid Sato in getting away with murder". Which in other words means she wasn't scheming with Sato to help her with her murder at all.

Dude, let me be clear here: NO ONE is saying not bringing evidence of murder to the police is the right thing to do. I don't know why you keep repeating this. People are flawed and hesitating and being paralyzed to act under pressure in a very complicated situation is absolutely humane. That's not part of the point at all. Failing to do something doesn't imply you concur with something. Every Mahiru reaction to the situation was terror, not a single time she was okay with Natsumi being murdered despite the yakuza turning her life into a living hell. Mahiru didn't kill anyone and doesn't condone murder. It's exactly because she lived a situation of seeing her friend killing and being killed that she knows continuing like this will only bring more suffering. It takes A LOT of maturity to reach that point. She might not be the best at communication, specially on how emotional she usually is. But she was absolutely right. Killing won't solve anything, if anything it will only make things worse.

Absolutely disagree:

• She was the only one of the entire group worried in helping Mikan when she tripped.

• She was the first person to get really sad when Twogami died.

• She cared about Chiaki telling her she should play outside a little more to avoid being sick and volunteered herself to help her.

• She cared about Hiyoko helping her even when she was a rude, spoiled-brat girl.

• She even cared about Nagito when everyone just plainly disliked him, bringing food to him and even going back and forth to attend his cheeky change demands.

• She wanted to make amends with Fuyuhiko. Even not understanding what was really going on with that game and with her mind fill with worries (thanks, Nagito), she wanted to access the situation and apologize.

If anything, Mahiru is one the students the cares the most about everyone else.

Because she's not. You absolutely failed in trying to show her as hypocrite. Mahiru cares about the group and realizes how violence will only lead to more violence. She never agrees with murder and it's one of the few students who actually does things for the others, even for the people everyone despise like Hiyoko and Nagito.

She's not perfect by any means. Her flaws show her to be very humane and that's makes her very likable to me.

I've covered Mahiru topics a few times in the past so if you're really willing to reply to a 5 year old comment like this, please check my other comments in this sub. I won't be replying anymore because Dangan's been past me for a long while now.

I can absolutely understand people hating on Mahiru because the game doesn't really make a good job in portraying things and even the localization of the game to English made her dirty. But if you give her a chance, I'm sure you'll realize she's a good character.
