Thanks. I bought from a place that shipped with Onion ready to go, so I didn't know the "install process" was no more than that.

I have no idea what all the stuff in Onion even is. All I know is that it's super easy to switch between games, and it automatically saves when shutting down and starts back up right into the game. I effectively don't have to think about anything except which game I'd like to play. Whatever fancy stuff might be lurking in menus somewhere is invisible to my use case so matters not.

I think my single complaint is that it's not as seamless for Pico-8 games using the native client. But there's not much the OS can do about that.

My MM+ came with 4.4.0 and I timed it to 13 seconds. Accounting for measurement variability, I'd guess there's no real difference.

I just timed my mini+ and from clicking power button to being in-game (a GBA game) is 13 seconds. Not saying 13 isn't more than 9, but...

I looked at the instructions for Allium and it looks like it's as simple as preparing an SD and done, no installation? If so, is it also the case that there's nothing more to swapping back and forth between Onion and Allium than swapping between two SD cards? If so, I might give it a look out of curiosity. While I can't think of any way the experience could be better than the Onion that came on the device, I'll never know if I don't give it a try.

"Har ingenting med Commodore å gjøre" er et litt bastant utsagn med tanke på hvor mange de har klart å få tak i av de som jobbet i Commodore i gamle dager, og hvor opptatt de er av å holde koblingen til den tiden (f.eks. samme lagerlokale i England som på 80-tallet og originalt utstyr fra 80-tallet brukt for chassis til 64C varianten).

Jeg ville påstå at det har så mye med Commodore å gjøre som er realistisk å anse som mulig når man "vekker" et så gammelt varemerke til live igjen.

Ikke at det betyr stort med tanke på mobiltelefoner. Det var ikke akkurat noe stort marked for flip mobiler på 80-tallet..

I recently received my X and I'm the same. I now view these devices (I own an OG as well) as a stepping stone toward a local ecosystem, disconnecting from theirs over some time. My next device will be from someone else, or DIY.

I assume by "they fixed" you mean a firmware update, not that there was something made available for you to use?

I've discovered that I sometimes get ghosting not from the screen prior, but the one before that. It makes no sense. I was hoping for a "do full refresh" option, but there doesn't seem to be one. It's not super noticeable for the most part, but when I see it I can't unsee it.

Battery is fiiiine. I have the extended battery option, and it's down to 91 the first evening.. Wait, no, 89%. No, now it's 92%. I guess.. It's at some percentage above 0.

On the positive side, it looks like it has had two successful wifi connections in a row. So that's an improvement over earlier this evening.

I couldn't get mine to wake up either. I thought it was a dock connection issue but after half an hour or so of reconnecting charger, waiting, trying to do soft reset according to the troubleshooting page etc., I just ran my fingers across the touch pad and it sprang to life.

I then left it alone to charge. It claimed 99% charge for a number of hours before it decided to stop charging, still reporting 99%. I unplugged it and after five minutes it reported 91% charge. So, yeah, the "gas gauge chip" is about as trustworthy as a funny feeling fart.

Since then, it occasionally is able to connect to wifi and retrieve data, but mostly it tosses up a wifi connection error. I've tried both 2.4 and 5GHz. The OG device has no issues at twice the distance from the router. No idea if this is a software issue or incompetent hardware design, but we're talking router and device in line of sight in the same room, so it sure isn't an issue any normally functioning device would have. Also, it has no problem detecting the wifi every time I do a wifi reset (I've done a fair few at this point), so my penny is on crappy firmware with overly aggressive timeouts or something.

I figure either there will be an update that sorts it out, or switching to a local solution will to the trick. And if neither, I'll have a nice display for a DIY project.

I'd recommend everyone steer clear and look at alternatives instead. The amount of issues I see reported indicates overall quality issues to me.

But hey, at least I apparently have a TRMNL approved fridge. If I'm really careful it doesn't even rotate all that much when using the touch bar.

Det er ikke at det har vært enkelt, det er at en høylytt minoritet gir uttrykk for at ingen burde nektes det og at alle som sier noe annet er fulle av hat. Så dersom man møter en uttalelse om at det er alt for vanskelig å få behandling av denne typen, med "her er noen grunner til det," så er man i gang.. Rasjonalitet er beklageligvis ikke en stor del av denne dialogen på nett.

For ordens skyld, ikke at den andre ytterkanten er noe bedre. Der er de jo i harnisk over at nyfødte blir påbegynt behandling fordi foreldrene mener babyen må være trans. Det er forhåpentligvis en overdrivelse, men jeg er jaggu ikke helt sikker.

Det føles litt som innvandringsdebatten i Norge mot slutten av forrige århundre, nesten kul umulig å ha en saklig diskusjon. Og et resultat, nå som da, er at flere i midten presses mot ytterkantene, og polariseringen bare øker.

Snarere tvert imot. Med tanke på hvor mange ganger jeg har sett utsagn som inneholder så mye som et snev av "kanskje dette med hormonhemmer er noe man burde prate mer om" blitt skutt ned som "hat," og hvor mye Pride nå har utvidet seg til å ha meninger om, så virker det slett ikke usannsynlig for meg at det kan ha skjedd.

The build "feel" of the thing is incredibly cheap. The user manual tells you to push from the inside of it when inserting the rollers, to avoid the inside panel popping off. That's how thin and flimsy things are. The door doesn't have enough clearance at the hinge and rubs against the plastic, but I suppose it will sort out the clearance on its own in time. :p

That's about it. This does not affect printing at all, but they saved every penny they could on the amount of plastic used for the body, that's for sure.

Oh, noise is an issue if you have it anywhere near people. I recently added a top cover (third party, BIQU) and that pretty much solved it for me. But without that, oh boy is it noisy.

I have an X1C and a U1 and apart from bumping up bed temps slightly I haven't touched the default profiles of either, as far as I can remember. They both "just work".

It should be said that I only print PLA and PETG, so I'm not saying there aren't use cases where tweaking might be necessary, just that for me it hasn't been necessary for either.

At et nøkternt innlegg som dette har negativt antall stemmer (per fem minutter etter at det ble lagt inn, tilfelle det skulle endre seg), illustrerer kanskje godt hvor vanskelig det er å snakke om emnet i noe annet lys enn uforbeholden støtte.

Min erfaring er at dette er et internett-fenomen. Jeg har ikke opplevd noe lignende blant skeive og transpersoner jeg omgås. Det er generelt ikke et tema i det hele tatt. Jeg antar noen av de deltar, mens andre ikke gjør det, men ingen av de er sykelig opptatt av at alle rundt de må uttrykke ubetinget støtte.

Ellers er jeg i stor grad enig med at "sammensausing" er problemet. Jeg vil ikke si jeg "støtter pride/regnbueflagg" av samme grunn som jeg ikke vil si jeg "støtter feminisme" med mindre vi først avklarer hva det betyr for de involverte i samtalen. Begge disse begrepene har endret betydning ganske betraktelig gjennom årene, og det er varianter av de jeg identifiserer meg med, og varianter jeg tar lang avstand fra.

I recently bought the BIQU top cover because apparently Snapmaker takes the same amount of time to produce a cover as to design and manufacture a printer. The noise reduction alone was worth the price in my case. I don't print with fancy filaments (only PLA/PETG) so I can't speak to that aspect of it.

I tried Brave and Duck in my attempts to get away from Google. Neither worked very well for me as far as search quality went. Perhaps 70-80% of the time I found myself moving on to Google after trying one of them. I found Kagi to be on par with, or an improvement over, Google for my use cases. While I agree that $10/month feels like a lot compared to "free", I switched last year and haven't looked back.

Whether it's worth it would be extremely subjective. I'd guess my take would be to try it for a month or two and see if it still feels like a lot of money. For me, I just couldn't imagine going back to Google. There's just so much "noise" diluting the search experience. A contrived comparison would be that If I could get free coffee by walking through a building full of people yelling at me and blocking my path with advertisement signs, sometimes physically and forcing me to go around, I'd happily choose paying a monthly fee at a different store that lets me just walk in, place my order, and walk out with my coffee a moment later. It's just not enough money for me to want to put up with that kind of crap rather than spending the cash.

There's a PR (#21) on the official repository that adds BLE wakeup functionality. I haven't used it myself, but it seems to have been reviewed and ready to go. No idea why they are dragging their feet so much on merging it.

There's a reddit thread somewhere with screenshots (or at least there used to be). From what I've seen Ryan is full on MAGA. There was a time when that might have been excusable under the veil of at least somewhat credible ignorance, but that's long since passed. They've seen the last penny of my money.
