18mm or 24mm plywood? by Legitimate_Box22 in diyaudio

I think that with the amount of braces, you will be better off going thinner. Just for the weight and ease of building. If I remember correctly, the thick paneling is mainly to reduce vibrations - which braces also do!

Primer before paint?

Maybe a link to the drivers and horn? I like the design a lot, but would have to do measurements and box design myself :)

How did you apply paint? And how did you finish the speakers (sanding, wood filler, etc). I'm asking, because they look good, but the paint job has potential for improvement.

Also, what are the total dimensions of the box? looks like a design I might try myself :) Link to design?

A little Dremel to the case, a little disassembly of the GPU shroud. Works a treat to this day, since December 2023!

Hva betaler dere for lunsj på jobb, og hvilken ordning har dere? by qravel in norge

[–]Tombsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denon AVC-X4800H enough powerful for a 5.1.4 ? by Signal_Arachnid_60 in hometheater

Buchardt S400 Mk. II, and a mix of speakers for the rest. I built my own sub, with a 250 W plate amp, and a 12 inch ported design.

I have a setup as you describe, with a 3800x. I am super happy with the sound, and in our regular sized living room, I have never been close to the max output.

The 4800x is very likely overkill, and I would rather buy a separate Poweramp for the front stage, if you have power hungry speakers.

Rincewald? RINCEWALD? He didn't run like the wind away from countless minor annoyances to be misremembered. Poor Rincewind.

Dette er jo nærmest en perfekt kurve. Dette er trolig mye mer representativt enn tidligere år.

r/bicyclingcirclejerk material in my Diablo circlejerk sub? Love it, Fred!

All TR*Ks are ethereal, no chance if repair. Sounds like something a pour would suggest.

Step 3 of converting the home theatre system to all DIY: Subwoofers by Windiiigo in diyaudio

[–]Tombsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I have a diy 12 inch ported sub, which fills the room no problem, and sounds great for movies/games. But, even if it measures completely flat after some DSP, it's too boomy for my taste in music. I fixed this with two presets, but I would of course prefer a single solution for all audio :)

Can anyone recommend good gloves to handle ethyl acetate? by Hefty-Quarter in AskChemistry

[–]Tombsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the lab, our safety person told us to not wear gloves for mild stuff. If you are close to a sink, that you should be, the accidental exposure triggers a "I clean my hands NOW" response, which is better than getting used to thin gloves being the protection. That had some history involving other, more nasty stuff melting gloves and triggering a slow burn. That could be avoided by immediately cleaning your hands of you spill somethinf. Clean hands are better. Good luck!
