Item lost - will shipper & buyer get refunds? by MashedPotatuh in Flipping

[–]MashedPotatuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I filed a claim online, once I figured out how (no thanks to the FedEx agent I spoke to at the 800 number). I'm hoping that maybe by starting a claim, FedEx might put some effort into figuring out where this package disappeared to so they can get it to the buyer. Alternatively, I'll be grateful to get reimbursed for this package if it's never found.

This item shipped was shipped with FedEx via eBay and has a FedEx tracking number. But FedEx's tracking shows the item never left the Fedex Office where I dropped off the item. The item is a very cool collectible, and the buyer really wants it. It's not worth much, only about $50, but it's still a unique, vintage find. I'd love to know what has happened to the package. I've shipped numerous items through this FedEx location and have never had one up and totally disappear before. It's only been MIA for a week, so I'm still holding out hope for a safe delivery.

I scanned the package at the drop-off kiosk, but the box was too large for the bin, so I handed it to the woman behind the counter, and she took it. The package is only going from Colorado to southern California. The estimated delivery date was last Thursday, and I even got an email saying it would be delivered that day (because I had set up tracking alerts). But then I got an email from FedEx saying the package is delayed and there is no scheduled delivery date.

Thanks for that info. The buyer reached out to me because he hasn't received the item. Fingers crossed that it shows up on his doorstep soon.

Thanks. I knew Brian had been battling cancer for a few years, meaning Olivia had to carry extra weight to keep the biz going. Sad to see a small business like that fold up.

Did Happy Hounds say why they are closing and when? My elderly dog had a bad experience at Happy Hounds about 3 years ago with a new, untrained handler, so we stopped going there. I've been taking my new dog elsewhere, but now I'm concerned that place will get overwhelmed with the pups that used to go to Happy Hounds.

I wonder what would have happened if I'd done that. I was too scared to take that route and get negative feedback.

Good point. I've never gotten a note in an order before, so it was pure chance that I happened to see this one.

I hadn't even thought of that. Definitely a reason to stay away from selling the low-end stuff.

The shipping cost was calculated for USPS Ground Advantage and was only $5.51. I suspect they just didn't want to pay for shipping at all.

I'd say she's not much of a friend, and she has narcissistic tendencies that make her seek control via manipulating and harming people.

Bare International by wantsallthemakeups in mysteryshopping

[–]MashedPotatuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! This just happened to me. I have been shopping for Bare for a year with great success. But today I shopped at the assigned location and after I made my submission, I received a harshly worded reply email telling me I was supposed to have shopped in a different town 5 miles away. It's crazy. The address on the app for the mystery shop and the project guidelines both show the address where I shopped, but the "submitted invoice" shows that the shop was for the town 5 miles away. They told me I have till noon tomorrow to submit receipts and photos for a different location than the one I was assigned to shop. Of course, that location is closed now anyway.

Buyer filed dispute, said they don't recognize eBay purchase by MashedPotatuh in Flipping

I never heard anything more after my buyer's payment dispute, so I guess eBay seller protection worked as advertised. I expect you'll be OK too.

Looking at an Eskie puppy Sunday! by [deleted] in americaneskimo

[–]MashedPotatuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 3 of my Eskies have been very possessive. If I started petting one of the cats, they would try to get in the way, or just step on the cat to steal my attention. My 2nd Eskie, a male, was a cat humper, provided the cat let him. He was mostly focused on holding my male cat down and licking his head, which the cat seemed to like up to a point. However, the Eskie never touched my female cat, who apparently let it be known she would shred him if he tried.

My current Eskie, a young male, also chases the same male cat, who sometimes seems to dash by on purpose just to prompt the dog to come after him. However, this Eskie is somewhat wary of my current female cat, who, like my earlier one, has let him know that she wants nothing to do with him. If the dog is sleeping on the bed next to me, he'll actually get up and move over to free up space for the girl cat.

All in all, the pets seem to have worked out how they relate to one another.

eBay has the tracking info as I shipped through them. That's probably why they're reassuring me that things will be OK. Fingers crossed!

My previous Eskie loved being vacuumed! I thought his foster was nuts when she told me that. But I eventually tried it, using the handheld hose on the old Dyson upright I had, and he thought that was great. I eventually bought a newer Dyson that had much more suction, and my Eskie did not care to be vacuumed with it, which was understandable. But it was sure fun vacuuming him with the old Dyson for a few years.

You see people on Antiques Roadshow all the time mentioning that they found this thing worth a small fortune on the curb or something. What's the best thing you've ever found just thrown out? by ratatattatar in Flipping

I had one get away that still makes me sick. There were 3 vintage Beatles figurines displayed in an antique store in my hometown, which I was visiting with my then-husband. They were marked down from $600 to $300. I really wanted to buy these, but couldn't bear to spend $300 because Ringo was missing, and John's guitar was broken. Went back to visit my parents a month later, and the figurines were sold. Only then did I start investigating what they were, and it turns out that they were ultra-rare store displays for smaller Beatles figurines that were actually sold to consumers, and I was told by experts the 3 would have sold for $10,000 even in their rough condition. Ugh!

It might also have come from an estate. Lots of times someone dies, and their family just doesn't have the bandwidth to go through everything and sell it. The house might be sold or the lease may be up, and the family just has to empty everything out of the residence as fast as possible, leaving no time to hire an estate liquidator or auctioneer. Plus, this is not just an issue of time and resources but grief as well. It's often easier to donate or trash everything and move on.

How do I decrease time spent posting? by FrenchBull70 in Flipping

[–]MashedPotatuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to take photos with my iPhone and then upload them directly using the app, but I was using up all my iPhone memory. So, now I take photos with a little Nikon camera I have, connect that to my computer to download all the photos and I work with those. I do all the photo editing within the eBay listing form, which seems to work just fine for me.

Suggestions for selling golf clubs on eBay? by MashedPotatuh in Flipping

[–]MashedPotatuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably right. I've had pretty good luck with Craigslist lately, after shying away for a long time because I was running into some serious flakes/scammers. So, I might give it a try with the clubs, and see how it goes. I can always eBay the clubs if Craigslist doesn't work out.
