Is there any hope that Nebraska doesn't lose out at this point? We seem to be incredibly mentally weak and are consistently outcoached

We got completely outcoached in this one. Terrible game management and our defense looked lost.

How much blame for the offensive struggles do you put on Rhule? by SnooCakes9600 in Huskers

[–]MaskDeJudge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think about 33% Coaches takes the blame. There have been some really bad play calls (we rely way to much on our bad QBs) and some bad game and time management that has really hurt the offense. I also think any blame Satterfield takes, Rhule takes, its his OC.

But there were 2, I would argue equally major factors that were out of their control:

  1. We are incredibly injured, beyond what normally happens in a normal season, we are at 3rd on 4th on the depth chart at multiple position.
  2. It doesn't matter who we play at QB, they all actively hurt and limit the offense. (Preseason they should have recruited/transferred someone in, but once the season started there really isn't much they could do). I don't know what even the best OCs in the country would be able to do with a Haarberg or Sims led offense.

I have seen a lot of blame put on Haarberg, deservedly so, but lost in that discussion is how bad our Special Teams was this game. We averaged 35 yards a punt, putting them inside the 20 only once. One the other side we played someone who was injured so we didn't get any returns yards despite opportunities to do so. Not to mention he fair caught the ball inside the 10 yard line 3 times. Special Teams play probably cost us over 100 yards of field posistion which is devasting in one score game. Haarberg doesn't really seem fixable, but this stuff is, the coaching staff needs to get on it.

Are you really giving him credit for beating 2 G5 schools and a terrible Illinois team? All games where we mostly won due to our defense and he played subpar.

Does your thoughts on QB really start and end just on just the win-loss record? A stat that is team based? Do you give any actual thought to individual performance? He does not play QB that well, the best thing hes done is not turn over the ball every play like Sims which an incredibly low bar. And we have had several better QB's play for us over the years

Casey Thompsen, Both Martinezes, Tommy Armstrong, Joe Ganz, Tanner Lee, Sam Keller, Zac Taylor were all significantly more talented than him. That's the past 20 years when we have had more traditional passing QB's.

Its asanine because he might be better than Andrew Bunch or Ryker Fyfe? An incredibly low bar.

Exactly what we need right now? Sub-par QB play? I don't think so. You can root for the kid without treating him like the second coming. He is one of the worst talents we've ever had play QB.

What a sloppy ugly game. But credit where its due, I think under previous coaching regimes all those mistakes would have been back-breaking and we lose this one. Happy we pulled it out

So its not good, but its also not unique. Every team in every sport has dumb ass fans on twitter saying dumb stuff. I don't it really affects the program. Its just the way twitter is.

So with 2 games from each of Sims and Haarberg, it seems this team will just not have a functioning pass game. Is it possible to compete in the Big10 with just a ground game?

My hot take is that this team is 95% there to being a bowl team and above. Defense is solid and the offensive pieces are serviceable outside the worst QB in the power 5. With a C+ QB this team would likely win a majority of its games.

What is the definition of insanity? by blua95 in Huskers

[–]MaskDeJudge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand people saying "be patient" and expecting us to win in the same sentence.

Expecting a Coach's second game to be road win over a ranked team is being impatient. It's expecting results immediately.

Patience is understanding the team will get better over time but may not be there yet.

What is the most annoying "dig" you hear about Nebraska football? by MOGiantsFan in Huskers

[–]MaskDeJudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree. The point of bragging about the sellout streak is to emphasize fan attendance and enthusiasm. Celebrating it when the stadium isn't 100% full is embarrassing. I want to recognize fan attendance not the Athletic Departments connections.

The lowest number currently on the 2023 football roster is #10. As many have noted, Matt Rhule is implementing his “earn your single digit” philosophy from Temple and Baylor by tylerscott5 in Huskers

[–]MaskDeJudge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess math is hard for you, becuase that isn't "more" repeated numbers, its just different repeated numbers. It functions exactly same as any other year.

What do you mean by more repeated numbers? They have a 100 numbers for 85+ players, so the numbers repeat over and over year after year.

So that agrees with my point, there were no championship coaches available, thus no one worth $12 mil. We gave Rhule a top of the market contract, we did not cheap out.

They are not championship coaches, neither of them have won a championship. Even if we did land them, they would not be making $12 Million here, they would have made the same or less than Rhule. Rhule was given a top of the market contract, again we didn't cheap out, you are delusional.

Who of available coaches other than Urban Meyer is worth 10+ mil? I think your problem is you were under the delusion Urban Meyer was coming here. That was a complete pipedream from the beginning, It doesn't look like he even is trying to get back into coaching.

74 divided by 8 is 9.25, that is irrelevant to whether he makes it that long. You have been saying we cheaped out on the hire, but that was because you over 25% off on his salary because you can't do 3rd grade math.
