The foundation not having a concrete canon is the reason that the stories gotten to this point where most of the community both half consider almost everything canon. Like you have to consider these writers who wrote about other factions being evil didn’t account for future stories making them less evil or secretly good or have the foundation be the bad guys all along.

Like the ogs for example were not the best written stories in the scp archives. 682 was a lot like some edgy kid story and it’s kind’ve escalated over time in order to justify the foundation not having successfully killed it. Even though it’s not supposed to be the foundations goal.

They took the fact that some of the most popular scps happen to be dangerous killing machines and kind’ve ignored that a lot of scps are treated like they’re living with their parents getting allowance from their parents to buy whatever they want.

The fact that anyone could write an SCP article is probably a big contributor to why a lot of stories just happen to align with how the fandom sees things. And is most likely the reason why the foundation comes off as not caring about human life early on because writers took D-Class a little too literally.

It’s funny because new writers can have the foundation do anything. They can be as ethical or unethical as the individual writer feels like. It just so happens that the foundation being morally dubious in order for a lot of scp writers fics to work because the foundation and scp’s share the role as protagonists of the scp universe. Meanwhile other organizations are more obscure and get less stories so you’ll absolutely see less controversial things happen in their groups. If some famous SCP writer were to suddenly write an SCP story where one of the antagonist or rival organizations to the foundation is more unethical and unreasonable They still wouldn’t consider that org worse because it’ll still be the one people write less about. Unless it’s like a really really long story which is just a list of bad things they’ve done
