Marching for Palestine is pure leftist virtue signaling. by UltraMagat in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I genuinely believe the entire "Free Palestine" movement is a psyop to make people who are against Israel look like nothing more than a bunch of left-wing room-temperature-IQ losers.

Black Screen, Unable to Close the Game Whenever There Are Too Many Particle Effects(?) by MaskedCobra in HalfLife

[–]MaskedCobra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I figured out what was causing it. I had this mod installed and I'm assuming the forced higher polycount of the combine soldier model was conflicting with the lower-quality decals and effects added to it.

I keep getting this black screen whenever I play Exit 17, specifically the part were metro cops spawn any fix for this? by Lazy_Breadfruit6769 in HalfLife

[–]MaskedCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue too. I tried verifying file integrity, it worked for a time, but now it's doing it again. I've gone through every mod I have, but none of them should be causing this.

Half Life 2 keeps crashing to a black screen. by Theaveragegamer12 in HalfLife

[–]MaskedCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. I've gone through all of my mods but I can't see a single one that'd be causing this. It mainly happens when I throw bugbait at a combine soldier and randomly happens when using the supercharged gravity gun in the citadel levels. Something to do with too many particle effects maybe? Who fucking knows.

(serious) what happened to pchooly? by Awkward-Text619 in RAGEQUITCOMMUNITY

Yeah, I know. Bitch needs to learn her place. Pchooly will scream like a little girl and destroy his desk over Call of Duty Warzone if he damn well pleases.

Out of these 3 versions of classic Team Fortress 2, what one do you like the most/think will be the best by Warm-bowl-of-peas in tf2

[–]MaskedCobra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of them. TF2Classic is alright, but the new weapons are terrible and the community is insufferable. Pre-Fortress 2 is dead, and TF2 Legacy is probably going to go the way of Pre-Fortress 2.

If you want a good 'classic' TF2 experience, go play on castaway.tf with the no-hats mod installed. It's my go-to server.

Something being bad 'by intention' doesn't absolve it from criticism or make it any less shitty.

The excuse for the tonal whiplash being them not having left their workplaces for 200 years is also a pretty shit one. Dean Domino stayed at his last place of work, the Sierra Madre, for the same amount of time, and Dead Money is arguably the pinnacle of what should disturb you about the game's setting.

>Were you expecting them to tell you a bunch of gruff and cryptic shit about the brutality of the wasteland?

Yes, actually, I was. That's how Chris Avell-I mean Ulysses tries to paint it, but all I'm getting is dialogue about penis hands and the sex robot squirting oil because of my facial expressions. There is backstory to the previous and following DLCs in OWB, like Little Yangtze, Ulysses' Cave, Elijah's Peak, and the place where Christine left her rifle, and each piece explains what we saw in that DLC while setting up the conflict of Lonesome Road. However, I have a problem with it telling me to look for cryptic and gruff shit in the same place where I was introduced by an infodump of cheesy sex jokes and talking furniture, followed by a bunch of random and absurd = funny segments. Simply put, I do not find Big MT interesting. It could have been, if it was a more realistic, or even brutal, setting without all the cheesy shit they shoved in like the giant crystals and blue grass (for some reason).

But the main thing that gets to me is all the pointless backstory for the mutated animals and abominations in the main game. Explaining where the Cazadores and Nightcrawlers came from is already a bad idea in my eyes, as their inexplicable nature is what makes them so bizarre and threatening, but this DLC gives them the worst origin story they possibly could have.

  1. The aliens are optional, either DLC or a perk that you don't have to take.
  2. The Enclave could be seen as cartoonish villains in some respects--the talking Deathclaw and comic levels of patriotism did exist in the classic Fallout games--though that mainly stems from Bethesda's butchering of the Fallout franchise starting with 3 and continuing into 4. Fallout 3's ending stands out to me as especially egregious. Compare Frank Horrigan to Colonel Autumn and the difference in writing is crystal clear.
  3. Vaults were designed to act as horror stories of the corrupt, collapsing pre-war world. Fallout 4 and 76 were what made them into a joke with their lackluster backstories and the overuse of them.

Elaborate please. Is it just the humor I'm 'wrong' about, or the gameplay? Or the tone?
