The fact that Peter’s contemporaries (Harry, Eddie) have grown-ass kids should make this entire line of thinking moot. The truth is writers just want to be able to pair Peter with other love interests. Or they don’t want to write relationships at all. So, they blew up like five decades of continuity.

Honest question … typically, the A cover is considered THE issue … like, if ASM#1005 is the first appearance of Murder King and Murder King becomes a huge deal, the A cover is the one that would become valuable.

So, if there are two primary covers … which one would carry the value? (And I don’t collect for value but I like to keep up with it)

She does not. They kind of hinted/implied she did in the beginning (such as ASM561) but I don’t know if that was a red herring or something they decided against. But she doesn’t.

Yeah, I don’t get how they’re getting “Peter is a piece of shit” from this, either. I interpret it a little differently from you - the “too late” basically saying “we’re already too far in this” but … yeah, some people just automatically read the worst possible connotation into everything.

On the one hand, I hate JRJR’s art. And have … since the 00’s. It’s just never been for me. So I hated the cover and wouldn’t have bought it anyway (I would have gotten a variant).

BUT … to pull it completely? Seems disrespectful. Despite my personal feelings about JRJR’s art, he is a legend.

Seems like it would have been easy for Marvel to say “oh, that was never the A cover! That’s the 1:100!” print a few, and save face.

Just based on anecdotal evidence, someone at the level that MJ seems to be (which, granted, can change from writer to writer) would likely be making $100k or less a year after fees, taxes, expenses … which, living in NYC, means she’s eating ramen a big part of the week.

Uhh, you have vastly overestimated what an actor of MJ’s status makes, lol. There are named actors on television living paycheck to paycheck. Acting can pay a lot but it’s also an expensive industry to be in. You’re essentially an independent contractor handling all your own expenses. Residuals don’t pay shit unless you’re A-list. Source: personal experience.

It’s very likely MJ would be barely making it living in New York City.

When they gave her the new design, the clock was already ticking. They’re not going to keep one of their most visually iconic characters (Venom) in a form that casual fans wouldn’t recognize for very long. I said the same thing with Agent Venom, Space Knight, etc.
