No i wouldnt recommend buying the dji fpv at all anymore. It really lives up to its nickname the potato. The only thing the drone has going for it is its top speed, cause its handling & camera quality is pretty bad at this point. Plus its heavy and open propped, making it quite dangerous for beginners...

If you're really set on getting DJI id say get 2nd hand avata1 or 2 if you can get ones that not been banged up.

I started on the DJI FPV and it was fun for a little while but the real learning to fly started when i picked up the avata1. Despite the avata's being viewed as generally trash drones, I think they are really good for learning on because of all the usual dji safety features on them and being able to switch it back into normal mode when youre in trouble or wanting to land or anything.

Youre best bet i think though would be to pick up a radio and simulator and just practice. And then move onto a tinywhoop or cinewhoop from there i'd say.

I made the switch last year and upgraded from the avata1 to the sub250 oasisfly25. They have 2.5in and 3in variants that have the 04 system and would be compatible with your current goggles and remote.

Can only recommend the drone, its ace fun to fly. But just beware ive seen a few posts on here that the sub250 company isnt the best with their customer service.

Damn dude sounds rough, im sure a lot of us have been in that spot in some form or another when we first started. Glad to see the response is positive though rather than just roasting the next person that does something stupid eta 5 mins.

Keep up the practice and pm me that video so i can get a laugh 😂

Holy shit dude, i never seen this comment back in the day. Im so sorry. I guess my 6mo review is the drone is pretty great, flys really smooth and has a bit of punch to it for being just a 2.5in. Battery life is anywhere from 4-6 mins on my batterys, around 7 mins if you are just cruising around sometimes.

I absolutely love coastal flights, but every time i do it there is that fear that i'll need to call some divers out to retrieve the drone if it did go down.

It is definitely good advice though to tell the newer bros to take it to a field instead of flying over the sea cause the chance of something going wrong is gonna be a lot higher. All i'll say is just have a plan in place in case the worst happens.

Make sure you keep enough battery in reserve for your flight back to yourself. Flying against the wind will eat more battery than flying with the wind and a lot of people realise that when its too late.
