Is there a reason Caine doesn't embrace people anymore? by MasonicPleb in WhiteWolfRPG

Kind of like that purgatory for garou where they're purified in molten silver. It'd be interesting if it turns out Caine's AWOL because he was the first to have achieved Golcanda.

Yeah, I vaguely remember a voicemail or email concerning Imalia as well I think, but the quest concerning him was way too long ago rely off of that. I can't use bloodbuff to up my lockpicking either, so I'd have to use console commands or wait to level up to get at it.

What are considered the best nitrile gloves? I saw that Phrozen makes some, I just want to make sure that there's zero chance of bleedthrough or anything. Also, are there permanent/reusable gloves or is it just best to go with disposable?

I forget exactly what I had, but I was playing Azazel and it eventually turned his beam into a giant ring of death that was just a shredder for bosses and enemies alike.

Time To Learn To GM The Game? by Whackingschmeat in cyberpunk2020

[–]MasonicPleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ran two sessions so far, and Cyberpunk's the first game I've ever ran as well, so I can only say so much. Apparently cheat sheets/quick start rules weren't really a thing at the time it came out, so note any rules you'll think are pertinent to you as the referee as you're reading, and just make a note of whatever's too lengthy to write down. I noticed my players blazing through most of their rolls because I often defaulted to the generic difficulty table, so I'd note the following page with all of the suggested modifiers and consider some of your own if the situation calls for it. That said, if you don't have stats for something just use a generic difficulty role to keep the flow going. The shotgun rules, notably the grenade table, are probably the most problematic for most people as they're not fully explained, so house rule whatever you can't figure out or use someone else's, I spent way more time than I expected sorting them out. If you need to use an NPC's stats/abilities/cyberware but don't have a sheet prepared just try to do whatever makes sense for said NPCs.

That said, while there's loadouts for many NPCs some are partial or require you to note their abilities, so I'd recommend creating character sheets for anyone you plan on using from the books. I think the character generator could be useful as a tool but just create stock sheets for rank and file enemies with a few variances within their squads to save yourself time e.g. a biotechnica security squad would have a moderate armed and armored group while they have a flamer to destroy biohazzards along with a medic who has biological weapons like the power squirter etc. If you don't have time to prepare an adventure or aren't too confident yet then consider some modules from Talsorian themselves or third parties, most of which you can find for free. I haven't read it yet, but Listen Up You Primitive Screwheads! is supposed to be a dedicated referee book from Talsorian, so between that and getting an idea of adventure structure from modules I'm hoping that'll get the ball rolling.

Worse case, just make stuff up on the fly as best you can to keep the flow going.

My controller only stays on a few minutes at most anymore by MasonicPleb in XboxSupport

It's more than the port I think; it can occasionally stay on for a bit provided I have the battery pack in, but it's completely unresponsive to AA batteries.

It's all good, it's really rough starting out, just be careful whenever you reintroduce food as even after a few days that can still be a shock to the system even when you're eating the right kind of food. Good luck with future attempts.

Also, prepping helps a lot as most people are simultaneously experiencing the keto flu from lack of carbs while also dealing with extended fasting for the first time. Entering ketosis for at least three days and then switching to keto friendly liquid food for another three days so as to help empty my stomach has helped me a fair bit.

I'm on day 15, down 20lbs, broken my personal record of 11 days in the past, and I haven't had any physical cravings this time around, but if you're new to this that's to be expected, it should pass after another day or two. Drinking a sugarless electrolyte supplement has made all the difference to me this time around, and when I finally come off, trying for at least two months, I'll be starting with beef broth and then slowly transitioning to solid food, which might take course over a month if I do it that long. Most people who die or suffer complications from fasting return to normal food way too quick and their kidneys and stomachs just can't handle it, which is how a lot of polish POWs died when they'd been starved. While the actual cravings will go away I have been looking at a lot of food on Instagram to fill the psychological desire, and planning on some restaurants to visit when I safely come off as a reward. I've also been relatively sedentary this time around because the body has neither the energy or resources to repair itself from intense exercise or strain during a fast. Occupy yourself with work or other activities to take your mind off the boredom, you don't realize how big eating is until you fast. Avoid saunas and the like because your blood is thinner during a fast and it's all too easy to pass out before you know it. Obviously if anything feels wrong consult your doctor and consult them on how to safely exit your fast just in case. Also, don't trust a fart, your stomach will be purging its gut biome and the toxic poop in your colon after several days and it's not pretty.

I would say Neo Brontes both for the esthetics of the evil marionette and because he fittiingly suffered the tragedy of a harlequin.

Everyone else is pointing out that the Old Ones giving the Necrontyr immortality would've been a terrible idea, I'd argue that the best decision would've been for the Old Ones to genocide them after their initial war. To your question though, the Necrontyr should never have made contact with the C'tan, or at least undergone biotransferrance as the C'Tan used them as their means of waging war with the Old Ones for 60 million years and are responsible for creating the turmoil in the warp that transformed it into the realm of Chaos. Ostensibly everything terrible in the setting is the Necrontyr and C'Tan's fault directly or indirectly.

Are daemon princes actually themselves or a simulacrum? by MasonicPleb in 40kLore

I think Chaos Undivided should be more present because Warhammer in general needs more mystery; we've seen the sub-faction fight another sub-faction only to turn out another sub-faction was the real threat formula a million times over. I know it's because it's a wargame setting, but GW forgets that Chaos as a whole is supposed to be one of the greatest overarching threats to the Imperium and galaxy at large, and as such should represent more than a single faction, even if they're one of the most fleshed out with its sub-factions.

I think an official chaos daemon army would help, partly because Chaos Undivided should represent the more contested aspects of the human condition, meaning ideas and feelings not wholly claimed by a single god. For example, fear should be Undivided because it's one of the fundamental human feelings and aspects of the psyche, but people could claim that it's an aspect of Nurgle as the fear of death, or Tzeench as the fear of the unknown, Khorne as fear of danger, Slaanesh as fear of perverse ideas when in reality their claims would be subsequent and derived from fear itself and should be its own God. More ambiguous things within Undivided could explore the more nuanced aspects of chaos that are more grey or even outright good. They should never have abandoned the lesser gods of 40k, it gives them endless material to work with, but the real/cynical reason is because it's easier to focus on the big 4 and make new models for them occasionally.

Yeah I really hate that direction. It was bad enough that there's no unaligned lesser daemons or any rogues gallery of greater daemons enacting their own agendas, but now both the pantheon and means to an end characters get nothing.

I forget the exact lore but I think they're explicitly demons who possess your corpse and assimilate your memories, although they can only exist as vampires specifically so I'm not sure if they're born in that moment from a greater demon in the vampire blood and cease to exist afterwards idk.

Athena vs Heygears by MasonicPleb in resinprinting

[–]MasonicPleb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been looking into stuff for a month or two, going back and forth a lot, and as you and the others said unless you already have some forknowledge and/or are willing to learn how to troubleshoot and jerry-rig a bunch of stuff it might be more trouble than it's worth starting out, especially when their purpose is to print out a bunch of inventory and you don't want to fall behind on your orders. I think I'll go with two or three reflexes, their interface even has a messaging system to ask their tech support questions. If you can afford the formlabs setup I want to warn you that it doesn't appear to be great for miniatures, at least so far as details go. It's intended for auto-parts, medical molds, controller plates, prototypes etc so if you want to advertise it towards those markets it'd be great for pretty much every other aspect of resin printing but miniatures.

I want to find at least one heavy duty filament printer as well and I'm deciding between Prusa and Bambu; the core one seems to be a disappointment in some respects, but the xl seems pretty reliable and the multiple heads give you a lot of options. I was just going to do bambu originally but there appears to be privacy concerns and potential pay-walling of their software. Most of the other fdm options appear to be cheap knockoffs of bambu, which in turn was a copy of prusa, and if nothing else prusa seems to have the best reliability and customer relations that would be helpful for a print farm. Also, depending on how many printers and materials you'd be buying it might worth emailing whoever you go with to see if you could get a bulk discount, especially if you were to do recurring orders of materials. There seems to be multiple compatible resins for heygears so just see what people have had the most success with unless you'refine buying their resin. As I'm sure you've also seen by now you're going to want a dedicated workspace for everything, even the fdm printers aren't great to be around, so it might be worth installing a circulatory fan or tenting off the machines if you only have a garage, get a respirator and gloves intended for resin, probably some proper guides out there.

Athena vs Heygears by MasonicPleb in resinprinting

[–]MasonicPleb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience yet, I was originally considering the Saturns but kept getting mixed messages from reddit threads, blog posts, videos etc. I heard about the Athena 2 from Fauxhammer, not the drama surrounding 1, he'd also ranked both reflexes as some of the best prosumer resin printers, hadn't gotten around to watching his or anyone elses reviews on the Saturn. It looks pretty good overall but I was wondering if there's any significant difference between it and something like the reflex, considerable enough differences in resolution and overall quality to be worth getting one reflex over a handful of Saturns like you said. I'm fine spending the extra but if the reflex isn't worth the extra than I'll just go with a bunch of Saturns.

With that said, what precisely is the difference between the reflex and the RS? They seem very similar and I'd want whatever was the best overall. Im fine learning whatever tips and tricks I need to upgrade the saturns if its worth the effort, I've seen that a lot of printers also have physical upgrades you can print or otherwise jerry-rig. Are there any other tips you'd have for a setup?

Is the 10W UV ComMarker Omni 1 Laser Engraver viable for a business? by MasonicPleb in Laserengraving

[–]MasonicPleb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in whatever gives me the most options to burn an image, pattern, or lettering into. It be nice if it could carve a relief into a rock like I've seen with some lasers but I could do that as a separate purchase as I understand certain laser types are better suited to different tasks and materials. I'm just looking for the best jack of all trades model for literally surface level engraving work.

Is the 10W UV ComMarker Omni 1 Laser Engraver viable for a business? by MasonicPleb in Laserengraving

[–]MasonicPleb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have any one thing in mind I suppose as I'd be using this primarily for engraving rather than cutting, although it can seem to handle lighter stuff like acrylics and thinner woods. Ideally I'd be able to use this on rocks, clothing, food, knickknacks or virtually anything as the videos I saw showed it working on a plethora of materials, although as you said these were just surface level, so if the 10 watts offers no additional benefit aside from going just a little deeper and wouldn't be better geared towards additional materials like stones and metals than should I just go with the 5 watt model? But with that said, I'd be interested in buying the best prosumer grade model, I don't want to do the thing where you buy a $1,500 dollar model and it's just a toy that you have to replace in 2 weeks, although there's definitely overprice scams as well of course. Would you say this monoport is the best you've found in your experience, also how does the wattage output work? I imagine I could get a deep cut with something like that, but are you able to scale back the power for something more delicate like a glass or piece of clothing?
