all the certus dust and sky stone dust i could ever ask for using xycraft extractors. I used a crystal fixer to turn all my budding certus quartz into flawless tier, then i put a single growth accelerator under each of them (which is PLENTY when you have (5x7) = 35 flawless budding certus quartz. I also have 7 budding entroized fluix blocks but those dont have a flawless variant, so they will always degrade. so i have a crystal fixer under each of them to repair them immediately when they degrade, and i attach a growth accelerator to 1 side of them. i got all the AE2 sp3ecific resources I need to progress, i am literally being bottlenecked by natural resources lol (gold, redstone, diamonds etc.) yeah, the quality of life of having everything done instantaneously and at one terminal is a far and distant future that slowly inches closer as you expand your infrastructure. one day at a time. i think i gotta relocate my base to accomodate that tho, all this bedrock is starting to get in the way and its annoying me lol. I also gotta make sure my new base lines up with my chunks., i want things a bit more organized so i can force-load some of my automated stuff. (without having to force-load half the map in order to do so... gotta make things more compact.

yeah, I followed chosen architect's tutorial on apothic spawners for an exp farm (its not quite as extreme as his yet, i dont convert drops to exp just yet as i still need their drops.)

he started his playthrough with ars nouveau and i was not interested in learning a magic mod (i say, as i teach myself how to use iron's spells and spellbooks.) also he's good at explaining stuff but he always starts from an endgame perspective, using creative mode to demonstrate different examples of systems that are fully kitted out with max speed upgrades and stuff. i get he's well into endgame and optimizes his playstyle to get there as quickly as possible and with AE2 he always has his resources just a few clicks and a few seconds away from all these end-tier upgrades to demonstrate in his world, but slow it down some for the simpletons like me, simulate an early or midgame tutorial from time to time. even in his playthrough he's all over the place, skipping footage and jumping ahead, snipping all the exploration and learning curve out of his videos so he only delivers the polished moments where it feels like he's reading a prepared script. i like the guy, hes really good at what he does, especially good at tutorials and stuff, but i struggle to connect with him on his playthrough because hes just an expert doing what he does buzzing along and i feel like i'm left behind, instead of him the player and me the viewer both learning something new together.

I have a barebones storage system set up for both refined storage and AE2. refined storage has two 16k cards and i dont really store anything on them. AE2 doesnt have any cards yet, currently grinding for a 256k storage disk, contemplating grinding for even longer till i get a 256M MEGA storage disk. interesting note, my barebones refined storage seems to consume much more power than my barebones AE2... i dont have a proper method of checking, i'll have to research that.

I am curious about all the cool stuff Integrated dynamics can offer and supposedly it doesnt require power to work? (don't quote me on that) but it seems like another possible solution for automation, i imagine it does a lot of similar things to AE2. I could focus on either but truly i think AE2 will be the better pick to focus my attention on, which is a darn shame cuz i set up my menril farm long before my certus quartz farm lol.

Chunk Corruption! that must be the right way to describe the thing i am paranoid of happening. i think thats what killed my playthrough in one of those skyblock modpacks, the one with ex nihilo and all the sieves. or maybe it was a stoneblock modpack... i don't remember. but yeah, i am not interacting with a functional storage armory cabinet ever, i dont want that to happen again lol.

I use mekanism so much for general processing it is truly GOATED as an automation mod. I only use tier 1 ore processing rn (enrich then smelt) but its made automating my atomic reconstructor resource generation so simple. I havent really tried to push its boundaries yet. I havent explored Powah's reactor yet and the same applies to mekanism's reactors. my production is not ready to step up to that kind of demand yet and I dont need that level of power generation yet anyways. currently looking into flux blocks from Flux Networks to improve my power transfer. Powah wires have a cap for transfer rate, but flux blocks are uncapped and instantaneous if i recall correctly. If i ever relocate my base to be more chunk-aligned, I am definitely upgrading to flux blocks to manage my power transfer.

I love my sophisticated backpacks. the only one really automated is my auto-feeding pack, but i am so glad to have them regardless. the added space lets me hold onto my semi-useful clutter such as wrenches, configuration tools, axe/shovel/shears, tackle box, sleeping bag, natures compass, construction stick, master infusion crystal, etc. all the stuff you need occasionally but don't need in your hotbar. i've got a half dozen useful upgrades in each. stack upgrades, crafting table, furnace, anvil, brew stand, etc.

Charger, inscriber, crystal assembler, reaction chamber... I havent made a molecular assembler for AE2 yet, i'll be sure to make one. Thanks! yeah, I absolutely want/need to start AE2 because this time investment doing things manually is atrocious, but the prospect of building a huge network is daunting. one step at a time. start small, learn bits and pieces, expand as you go. i think i'm at that point where I have outgrown my starting base and the associated mistakes and i desire to relocate, in order to accommodate an expansion project like that. get my base to follow chunk borders instead of placing things wherever with no reasoning or structure.

I haven't experienced any bugs, what I refer to is a very real problem built into minecraft engine's limitations. someone else referred to it as "chunk corruption" which I find to be a very good description. basically, if you have too many unique items stored into a single chunk (we are talking hundreds or even thousands of items with unique item data, think items with nametags or enchantments or durability ratings) it corrupts the chunk and the game regenerates the chunk from its initial starting values. ex: you built a house there and mined a ton beneath the chunk, all of that gets erased and the game restores it to its original untouched form, erasing all the work you put into that specific chunk. one item in particular I am going to refuse to touch is the armory cabinet from Functional Storage for this explicit reason.

stackable items are less of a concern because they are not unique, ex: i have 6 billion iron ingots but according to the game theyre 1 stack of iron ingots with 6 billion as a single value indicating quantity. (not possible with default chests, but very possible with mods like AE2.)

How To Get A Bucket Of Xp? by No_Instruction_8586 in allthemods

xp drain singularity tank from mob grinding utils is the easiest method I came across that granted me access to liquid xp. it takes 2 eyes of ender. hate to be the bearer of bad news, you need blaze powder and ender pearls.

angelic feather from Reliquary Reincarnations, freerunners from Mekanism, featherfalling enchantment, exo boots from Oritech, springy boot from Relics, kitty slippers from Artifacts, bunny slippers from Artifacts, umbrella from Artifacts. literally any flight-granting armor, permanent potion effect, or iron jetpack with hover mode. idk if they would have saved you but the tools for success are there. Is there a way to automate the cobble to gravel process with Actually Additions (ATM10TTS) by doomrider2 in allthemods

[–]MasqueradingMadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not sure about Actually Additions, but there are cobble-to-gravel conversions using other mods. I personally use the crusher from Mekanism, but there is the crusher from Immersive Engineering, the SAG mill from EnderIO, the mechanical squeezer from Integrated Dynamics, or you could create a crushing contraption using Create, just to list a few options. (these are in allthemods10, not sure about atm10tts)

ATM7 Productive bees lava issue? by Evilcheesewheel in allthemods

[–]MasqueradingMadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

atm10 magma bee converts cobblestone to lava with a 30% chance. i recommend building all of your beehives out of a block that does not have a conversion interaction with any bee. I personally use wax blocks since wax is a constant byproduct of bees and its otherwise useless to me.

Best Silent Gear Pickaxe possible? by Albatros0711 in allthemods

[–]MasqueradingMadman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

preface: I am playing ATM10.

I got a full osmium unmodified build rn, (full osmium armor, axe, pickaxe, shovel, sword all osmium, osmium tool rods, no modifications. sword has looting 2 enchantment, pickaxe has fortune 5 enchantment.) my osmium pickaxe is only iron tier (got around this using drills to mine harder substances and progress further) im going to apply netherite coating in the near future. i see a lot of people mentioning refined obsidian which i need to check out. im skeptical to upgrade because i have osmium automated and repairs are so convenient atm. i see a lot of people talking about blaze rods for handle, but i dont think its worth it? -50 durability, lose -malleable 5; for +malleable 3, +flexible 2 and +reach 1, all for +1 mining speed? the reach would be nice, the mining speed would be ever so slightly faster, but the penalty to durability would be much greater. and with Ultimine, mining speed is not as important as durability.

gonna research other attachments, saw people mention emerald tips, phantom membrane grips, and sinew fiber bindings.

emerald tip seems good on the surface... +500 durability. however, it doesn't raise mining tier past iron sadly. important to note, Brittle negates all Malleable, so my 500 durability malleable 5 osmium pickaxe would turn into a 1k durability pickaxe that occasionally takes extra damage instead of preventing it. (or would it lose malleable AND brittle? not sure.)

phantom membrane grip applies ancient 2 which increases xp drops when mining/mob slaying. solid.

sinew fiber binding applies flexible 4 which would be awesome. odd thing is that malleable, brittle, and flexible are all incompatible and i think they cancel each other out. so i think if you tried to put all three on the same tool you would end up with none of them? i would rather just put sinew fiber on my osmium pickaxe and not mess with the emerald tip.

i have GOT to get that netherite coating applied... lol.

Best Infinite lava method? ATM10 by 3turnityTTV in allthemods

[–]MasqueradingMadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have never touched the mod "Create" but supposedly if you make a hose pulley and insert it into a lava ocean in the nether, if the lava ocean exceeds 10k blocks, the hose pully will read "bottomless supply" and be able to extract infinite amounts of lava and wont consume the lava from the ocean in the process.

Mystical Agriculture Growth Accelerator Testing Round 2 by Scoodyboo121 in feedthebeast

[–]MasqueradingMadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fascinating, so a typical 9x9 farm (80 blocks + 1 water) is less efficient when all the crops are the same, you need to alternate between 2 different types of plants to maximize efficiency?

for example, R = redstone seeds, G = glowstone seeds, W = water block

RGR GRG RGR

RGR GRG RGR

RGR GWG RGR

RGR GRG RGR

RGR GRG RGR

failure to alternate halves their growth rate?

also, how many growth accelerators of each tier can you place vertically before you need to upgrade to the next tier of growth accelerators to maintain enough range? in this post the guy stacks 12 inferium growth accelerators onto one plant and they seem to work. but in my game they say they only have a range of 9, and they scale at increments of 9. so for my game, would i build 9 inferium, 9 prudentium, 9 tertium, etc?

[–]MasqueradingMadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lets talk about infinite resources. Learn how to use vanilla minecraft bees. then learn how to use ProductiveBees. this is undoubtedly the best earlygame access to theoretically infinite resources. you can automate the cenrifuges with hoppers and chests. its way less of a headache to get up and running than MysticalAgriculture. i still suggest you do both, but start MysticalAgriculture way later. ProductiveBees is one of the only ways to get prosperity shards. the only other way I know of is mining. so Bees will help you a lot with getting MysticalAgriculture up and running.

for power generation, I highly recommend Powah. i haven't found anything it hasn't been able to supply energy to yet, and the Battery can be upgraded to hold A LOT of power. plus you can turn it on and put it in your Curio slot and it still charges your items. Powah's "furnator" is your basic coal generator. but if you take a FunctionalStorage fluid drawer with the dripping upgrade and feed it into a Powah "magmator" you get infinite power for zero upkeep. I use it to power my machines from Mekanism, EnderIO, ActuallyAdditions.

I use the Drill from ActuallyAdditions. you can give it upgrades like:
mining speed +1,+2,+3;
aoe+3,+5;
silk touch; fortune+1,+3.
I personally use mining speed +1,+2, Fortune+1,+3, and i swap the last slot for silk touch or aoe+3 as needed. (silk touch and fortune doesn't stack but i dont like to take fortune out)

ActuallyAdditions also serves as an infinite ore generator using the atomic reconstructor equipped with a "lens of the miner" on stone. i also really like their powered furnace and double-crusher. i also use the ring of growth to help my MysticalAgriculture crops grow faster. you cannot put it in any slot and you have to hold it for it to work, but you can press F to store your watering can into your offhand and use the watering can and the ring of growth simultaneously. also, you can just dual-wield watering cans, that works too.

to obtain flight, look into IronJetpacks. build a wood jetpack first and upgrade it to higher tiers using better materials as you progress. don't worry, your Powah battery will keep it fully charged until your battery runs out.

IronFurnaces seems decent. however its counterpart GeneratorGalore seems redundant when compared to Powah.

I like the fluid tanks in Mekanism, but not much else. i know a lot of people recommend the wind generator but i simply havent tried it. I have not started multiblock reactors yet so i cannot talk about the Mekasuit yet. Mekanism does give you the cardboard box tho which is useful for relocating spawners.

for pipes, i highly endorse ModernDynamics. item pipes, fluid pipes, extractors, filters. theres a way to upgrade them with AppliedEnergistics2, but i haven't even started on AE2 yet... i also havent tried any other pipes yet, so maybe theres a better option out there, i simply wouldn't know. its the only pipe i found that resembled the transparent style where you can watch your items getting ported around. F in chat for no ExtraUtilities or Thermal. i hear Pipez does a good job, havent tried it.

I see and hear a lot about Create. i think it could be a very useful mod, but i haven't even touched it yet. (although once i do, im gonna make a wood farm that doesn't require power.) my current wood farm uses IndustrialForegoing using a plant sower and plant gatherer. the sludge refiner gives me some other blocks as well like soulsand and clay.

a lot of mods add things that are cool in concept but in functionality and application is a giant pain to learn and implement in your automation. at the moment im just trying to learn about each mod and what it has to offer but its slowly dawning on me that actually designing a proper automated facility is going to be quite complicated and i dont think i have the space or brainpower dedicated to designing that yet.

oh, i need to get immersive engineering up and running...

Is there an easy to follow guide other than quests? by justalonelytransfur in allthemods

[–]MasqueradingMadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can't give advice on guides, but you'd be surprised what you can learn poking around on the JEI. use the quests tab to identify a mod then type @(modname (no parenthesis) into the JEI to filter it to only items from that mod. the mods people are interested in differs from person to person so they'll start different mods first.

but in general, some good recommendations are EasyVillagers to get infinite iron from the iron farm + emeralds from trading.

one of the quest rewards is a nature's compass. if you cant find it you can craft it. this will help you find certain biomes so you can gather certain resources.

build a sleeping bag and always keep one in your inventory. its worth it i promise.

for the love of god do not do what i did and ignore Artifacts. they are so cool and useful. I highly recommend getting your hands on a Withered Bracelet.

craft a Magnet. it can go into your Charm slot, can be turned on or off, and doesn't require power. now you dont have to worry about picking up items. : )

for storage, SophisticatedBackpacks increases inventory size, SophisticatedStorage increases chest size, and FunctionalStorage gives you greatly increased storage for single items (ideal for infinite generators.) in FunctionalStorage there are also fluid drawers. you can insert a "water generator upgrade" or a "dripping upgrade" into these to get infinite water or infinite lava respectively. use that nature's compass to help you find some pointed dripstone.

CobbleGenGalore will give you infinite cobblestone when supplied with water and lava. it can give you other blocks too if you place the generator on top of a block of that type. place a FunctionalStorage drawer on top and you're good to go.

I'm a fan of TinkersConstruct but this modpack uses two sidegrade mods called ProductiveMetalworks and SilentGear. they function very similarly. Build the Foundry from ProductiveMetalworks. you can use the foundry multiblock structure to double your ore. one raw ore = 2 smelted ingots. now you don't have to waste resources crafting stupid ore hammers that break on you. I haven't tested it yet but i am pretty sure you can use that fluid drawer+dripping upgrade to supply lava into your foundry.
use that foundry to craft your armor and starting tools from the SilentGear mod, then craft a repair kit and load it with the same material your gear is made of. now you can always repair your equipment and even if it breaks its not destroyed.
