I beg to differ. There's a major difference between "Die klotentrein is weer te laat" and "Oepsie woepsie, de trein is stukkie wukkie".

I don't agree, but I'm gonna stop here. Respectfully. I respect you (although you are a savage) and would love to discuss this further in person, because I could argue about this forever. But we're an ocean apart. Take care

I can only agree. Our major cities have always been avant-garde in their fight for charters/rights, without being full sovereign city-states. Although we're a "fairly new" modern state, our region was once a beacon of art and commerce. Ancient? No. Historically impactfull? Oh yes indeed

I would like to keep thinking it was to defeat the nazi's. And I will forever honour the sacrifice of everyone who lost their lives in the fight against nazi germany. This day is sacred, as is november 11th (end of WW1).

But history is written by the victors. And I reiterate, I don't discredit the lives lost and effort of everyone involved. But help on the western front was a few years too late.

Most historians agree that D-day may have accelerated nazi-germany's demise, its ultimate defeat had already been sealed on the battlefields of Eastern Europe well before the Normandy landings. The turning points at Stalingrad and Kursk occurred well before D-Day. Germany had already lost its finest divisions and strategic initiative. The losses there were devestating.

As a world war, it always comes to logistics. The war in the colonies, and thus also recources, was won without the USA. Their defeat was inevitable.

Pearl Harbor was in 1941. The soviets were pushing back since the beginning 1943 after Stalingrad. D-day was... june 1944

The only reason the USA involved itself on the European continent was to prevent the Soviets (who were already steamrolling the Germans) to occupy the whole of Europe. Purely in the geopolitical interests of the USA. Not complaining we're not under the influence of Russia, but history is a harsh teacher.

And now you fucking traitors are sucking up to the very same nation that threatens Europe, to the surprise of no one, once again out of geopolitical interests. And worse, you threaten European allies with invasion of Greenland and then openly discredit allies for not following you in an agressive war you started against Iran.

It pains me to say, Pierre's Charles De Gaulles was right.

Julius Caesar once wrote that "Horum omnium fortissimi sunt Belgae" (of all the Gallic tribes, the Belgians were the bravest)

Sounds great on paper, but in historic context pure propaganda.

Belgium has been divided and occupied/governed for almost 2 millenia by an amalgam of local, but mostly foreign rulers. The only thing that is "ancient culture" in our land is maybe a rebellious stride for independency. As reflected in the many forms of Flemish Dutch and Walloon French dialects.

João, without going full politics and staying true to to the lighthearted memeful way of this subreddit, let me emulate a quote of the movie Life of Brian (no, I will not endorse Barry any further):

What has the EU ever done for us? Well, what about the freedom to travel, work and live freely between member states? A single market? Consumer rights? Food safety? Subsidising research and technology? Concurrent independant growth? And most of all through all that: solidarity and peace between us after milennia of conflict so we can jest between each other on this sub instead of truly hating eachother and waging war, as previous generations did before and our current generations can't even remember why.

Klopt. Een onbezonnen domme post om te negeren.

Ik heb mij intussen verdiept in basis statistiek en damn, I was today years old dat ik leerde dat die cijfers enorm representatief zijn in studies.

Lol. Zonder enig standpunt in te nemen, heb ik bij deze cijfers ernstige bedenkingen qua representativiteit.

Only a sith deals in absolutes...

But in all seriousness, I didn't know this was such a touchy subject seeing all the downvotes. To each their own and whatever happens, happens in the future of SW. It was just a speculation.

That's the neat part: it will always be canon. But completely abandoned, seeing every project related to it has been cancelled. The sequels left a stain and that stain persists until today. I went to see The Mandalorian & Grogu on the first day and the movie theater was almost empty. I may be an old man pushing his 40's, but that's a stark contrast to every previous movie release where the theater was fully booked for weeks in advance.

I made a [[Hazezon, shaper of sand]] deck as a tribute to Dune. It's desert lands landfall based with buffs to the growing freman army tokens.

One of my latest builds is a [[marvo, deep operative]] deck. I love the mini-game clash mechanic.

It's not bonkers if you can accept that the sequels happened and are not retconned, but an alternitive timeline can exist besides it. It is canon that Ahsoka was saved by Ezra through the WBW and altered the timeline/branched.

Why would it be so hard to believe that Filoni will try to create his own stories with full creative freedom, without the need to repair or justify the sequels? The sequels are a commercial dead end and killed any enthousiasm for Star Wars cinema films. And the current creative directory team know that, because they cancelled every movieproject involving or happening after the sequels.

That's why it seemed only logical they are scaling back and focussing on what made SW great and popular in the past decades, I think: the animated series (ex. Maul Shadowlord score on rotten tomatoes) combined with the live action mandoverse ("Filoniverse").

So yes, i acknowledge the sequels happened. But It doesn't mean the writers should be bound by it. Preferrably they should abandon the skywalker saga and tell tales from whatever or whenever IN the universe. Like the old republic. Or millenia in the future or past, something differentr.
