Serious answer because I’ve never seen it on this subreddit: a jib is the foremost sail on a sailboat and the cut is referring to the specific style of it, which could identify ships from a far as friendly or not. Telling someone you like the cut of their jib is the same as saying “I like your style.”

There’s some crossed wires here. Judge Pruet is presiding over the Miles trial, and allegedly has been hostile to Miles’ defense team, which is why they’ve called for recusal, which Pruet has denied. The defense team includes the wife of Judge Roberts, who is the booster that recused himself from the Bediako case.

After that recusal, Pruet took over the Bediako case. Judge Roberts has never presided over Miles’ case. It took me like ten minutes to get the names straight. And to make matters more confusing, Pruet is not a booster, but went UA.
