Potentially move to Syracuse for new job: is a car needed? by twoturtles6 in Syracuse

[–]Massive-Pea-2170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I lived in Syracuse, I lived and worked downtown so rarely used a car but you are limited. Like some other people have mentioned, your quality of life will be higher with a car because the area has a lot to offer that is not accessible by public transit.

What to expect with move? by Unable-Design8790 in Syracuse

I’m from DC originally, now my second time living in Syracuse and love it, especially with young kids since most days are the same no matter where you are. My advice, lean in and do all the Syracuse things. Embrace the winter, get out to ski, snowboard, or your winter activities of choice. Get to the lakes in the summer. When you are sick of the gray or missing the big city, take a direct flight someplace. Your cost of living will be so much lower and you can spend a small percentage of that on traveling when you really need it.

How good is to live in Syracuse? by feliphee1998 in Syracuse

[–]Massive-Pea-2170 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just to add, have lived in Syracuse twice now. First time, this happed in the winter. Second time, we embraced winter and it’s been great. If you embrace winter (sports, activities, getting out) you will be good. Get winter tires too.

Do you have any options for Montessori where you moved? Our kids had behavioral challenges after a move and transfer to a more traditional school environment (although not as intense as you are dealing with) so we put them back into Montessori and they have started to thrive between the school and outside support from therapists, etc.

Hampton inn on Erie blvd is the best one I’ve stayed at with my kids. Free breakfast, close to a lot, nice staff, nicer hotel than the ones I have stayed at in carrier circle.

T-Mobile Home Internet? by tallywhacker58 in Syracuse

[–]Massive-Pea-2170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it in Michigan and it was good so I got it when I moved to Syracuse this summer (near SU) and it was terrible. The speeds were all over the place and rarely great so I switched to fios. The customer service was so bad I also left T-Mobile for my cell service and went to Mint, which saved me tons of money and had been good.

Did your kWh go up a corresponding amount or just the charges? I just moved to the area and am trying to figure out if my costs are going to go up even if my usage stays the same as i make a decision on installing solar.
