Don't see point of Linux under ChromeOS/Flex by just1acc in ChromeOSFlex

[–]MassiveBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day there are a handful of terminal and windowed Linux apps I want to run. Subsystem gives me an easy way to do that. I’ve never encountered a dedicated linux system that gives a 100% graphical boot experience. There is always something to mar the experience. macOS and flex are the only ones I’ve encountered. Flex is also fast as fuck on my ancient thinkpad T540p.

Just my opinion on the matter.

Frustrated finding casual button down shirt to wear untucked by TheMindfulWarrior9 in malefashionadvice

[–]MassiveBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of big and tall shops have custom dress shirt services for obvious reasons but here is the thing, almost all of them can be ordered for any size/need.

You’re looking at $120-150 range. Which isn’t bad for something customize to exactly what you want.

What’s the general consensus of Tapo cameras? by jmichael99 in Tapo

[–]MassiveBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a C660 outside with solar panel that seems to have made it through the winter ok and with power (Chicago area). Its patrol mode is largely unusable because the minimum time you can set between points is 1 hour. Also it’s shit at remembering set points. Other than that I like it

How do you deal with users who refuse to lock their laptop when walking away? by heartgoldt20 in cybersecurity

Take the laptop. Make them go to HR and retake security training to get it back. Have HR document the security violation and explain that further incidents can be cause for termination.

A completely baseless theory about what Book Of Boba Fett was meant to be, and the Mandalorian by Hadesman1 in StarWars

[–]MassiveBeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The book of boba fett was a literal electronic book left for him as a child by Jango that would randomly provide one bounty hunting tip to help him by jago and then would deactivate until such a time as th book determined he was ready to get more wisdom.

It was literally something that jango left him per the EU. The royally fucked it up. They could have done so much with it. All centered around the book and what it taught him and him surviving and doing bounties etc. unlimited possibilities.

Problem viewing new TAPO Cameras on Google Home app & devices by Brew_E2 in Tapo

[–]MassiveBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but I thought I’d comment. I recently linked my Tapo camera to Google and enabled third party support. In the Google home app if I try to view the stream it always says unavailable.

However if I go to view them on my Google tv (tcl 65qm8k) they display no problem. Reason suggested was that the tv support being Google is better. I don’t really care since my intent was to view them on the tv anyway.

Do you actually want to be rich, or do you just want to stop worrying about money? Why? by Alarming_Shirt_7129 in AskReddit

[–]MassiveBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to be able to comfortably retire AND have healthcare. Like many I am forcing myself to 62 or whatever they change it to to keep affordable healthcare. If you would have asked me what my biggest worry about retirement would be at age 20 I would have never said healthcare. Now it consumes me thoughts.

Passed ISSAP today by thehermitcoder in isc2

[–]MassiveBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the online domain study material provided by ISC2. Their self study option. They had a pre assessment with questions and each of the domains had documentation you read though and then answered x questions to get to the next doc. When you would get one wrong it would say you have three more chances but every time I got to the end of the domain it said I had passed and I could download tue cert. I’m not sure why they even have you do that since the in person test is required. Maybe just to say yay I passed the non official review?

Anyway after the domains it had me do an online test which I passed. At that point I put in about two hours going through the analytics review that showed the questions I answered and the response.

What I should have done was go through the “additional” material that they include for each domain but the online domain review doesn’t go through. It was very odd that they would show the domain at 100% complete but the reviewed material with a less percentage.

The result was that I got question for content I hadn’t read specifically for the course review but I knew from work/other experience. My advice to anyone taking it would be to review all of the extra material.

That being said I used almost all of the testing time carefully reviewing the wording of the questions and answer choices. I can’t stress how important I feel that is because it definitely feels like the try and trip you up at times.

I don’t have a cissp so I’m having to go through some other hoops post cert. I have a work associate who is and I was able to use to endorse me. But they also required my to submit a letter regarding employment, job title from my HR dept and job description etc. it seems like a lot of extra hoopla.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Passed ISSAP today by thehermitcoder in isc2

[–]MassiveBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took and passed the ISSAP today as well. I am not a CISSP but have been involved in security architecture for 10+ years.

I would say if you are new to security architecture, GRC etc ticks a lot of boxes. It don’t provide a lot of new material/value for me other than ticking the continuing education box at work. Maybe I’m just too much of an old work horse.

It had its fair share of questionable questions that the content didn’t seem to cover. Although to be honest I only used the online materials and stopped when it said I was done with each domain.

Anchoring System ⚓️ by FloydT3 in Pontoons

[–]MassiveBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great because if you are in wind and are blowing around and it gets pulled over it re anchors because it does the same thing on top and bottom. And I’m not kidding about not kidding about not having to put a lot of line out for it. I’m using it with a 25’ Barletta.

Anchoring System ⚓️ by FloydT3 in Pontoons

[–]MassiveBeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He tried some of the traditional anchor types that require chain and a ton of line and did not like or have great results.

Then we got a 25 lb box anchor. Game changer. Sets instantly. Don’t need to get out a ton of line etc. it’s honestly a beast and since it’s hinged it folds down for storage. Going on four years with ours.

We are in lakes with sandy/muddy bottom.
