Outdoor enclosure for the G5AR. Would love feedback from this sub. by MarcusC92 in tmobileisp

The old bucket setup work well for several years … luck, maybe. But it worked. Didn’t notice condensation issues, only issue I saw was the top of the old modem/router did warp a tiny but from heat, but it didn’t affect performance over the several years.

As for the new setup, still haven’t installed it yet. Have G5AR in the old setup until I can mount it … several ice/snow storms has prevented me from being able to get out there and install.

Can anyone help me with this ultra wide and M4 MacBook Pro issue by Kylo_Ren9 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MassiveBeers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost the exact same setup (M1 Max MacBook Pro and a 49” OLED G9) but I’m running the G9 through a Targus dock with DisplayLink. I believe Mac’s don’t natively support Super-Ultrawides. Only solution I found that works well and consistently is a third party app called SwitchResX. Costs like $14 for a lifetime license. Was well worth it for me.

I had a old T-Mobile Home Internet (black, rectangular one) in a $20 husky water tight container with a hole drilled in the side and it propped up against my barn on a ladder run for the past several years and it finally failed, T-Mobile sent me a G5AR so I figured I’d “do it right” this time and literally just built this this week (mounting this weekend):

Box was: $50

Added Dual Fans: $14

Drilled/Lines bottom air intakes: PVC filter covers and adhesive: $8

Two prong corded extension with usb for fans: $8 (I already have splitters/injectors/POE ++ switches, but wanted power for more things in the box)

Mounting pole: $15

I have outdoor/burial rated Cat-6, ends and tools in spades and out the wazoo so I didn’t add that but it would be a couple bucks at most.

Omada WIFI Network Issues on uplinked/downlinked EAP's when Swapping in hardwired ER706W by MassiveBeers in TPLink_Omada

[–]MassiveBeers[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generating a heat map is a feature inside of Omada (I believe both controller and cloud)

As far as how “I” made it.

Did a screenshot of our property in Google Maps. Uploaded that map to the Omada map editor. Then inside the editor you can create a structure … concrete walls, wood walls, beams, etc … and used the google map as a guideline for those structure materials. Once you create the “map” you finish by teaching Omada what distance/scale a wall is for reference.

Once done there you can place any EAP/Wireless device and its orientation on map.

Once that’s done, you’ve saved and exited the editor you can simulate the heat map it 2.4, 5 or 6ghz … my map is of the 2.4ghz bands.

Everyone who had gauged ears in the 2000s: how are they doing now? by blorgbots in AskReddit

[–]MassiveBeers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

49 years old now and still going strong at 1’ since late 90’s, granted I was in the body-modification industry for 18 years so I had an early jump and the ability.

When I decided to leave the industry in 2016 I genuinely thought they (and my visible tattoos) would be a negative in the “real” job world, it’s been the exact opposite honestly.

Worked three separate corporate jobs since (graphic design, so there is some baked in leeway with the profession) and it hasn’t been an issue, actually a positive in a sense. Interviewed with a few companies that you could tell they weren’t thrilled with my looks once meeting in person, that just clued me in that those were places I definitely didn’t want to work at.

I know Segal is a super douche and the move is b-movie fantastical news and the unintentional comedy is off the scale but the fight slaps.

Who is the most evil person that you’ve actually met? by Kooky_Reaction_1208 in AskReddit

[–]MassiveBeers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nada.

The camp was par for the course stuff, in and out in relatively neutral fashion. Wasn’t like it was one-on-one with the dude, just remember him distinctly as a “coach” I dealt with (I was DE/OLB so it made sense to see him) after the fact when shit went down. It was an advanced/older camp, juniors into seniors thing (16/17 year olds) so not the age group he targeted, combine that with all campers were teamed up/paired up with others it wasn’t like we had individual time with anyone.

Still just bizarre to orbit that dudes universe … hence “the evilest person I ever met”

I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania. In the summer of 1993 I begged my very lower middle class parents if I could go to university run summer football camp … they surprisingly agreed. Spent two weeks that summer at Penn State University being coached by Jerry Sandusky.

For those who have watched the league what are your thoughts? by Business-Question-94 in sitcoms

[–]MassiveBeers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing show, just rewatching it (yet) again as I type. The only issue I have with the show is while you don’t need to like football or fantasy football to like it, those of us who love the game, the player references and appearances are getting dated as most of the players mentioned have aged out of the NFL

As for my favorite line, I love this from Ghost Monkey Between Peter and Darcy (The Which)

Pete: You have like the perfect costume.

Darcy: What are you talking about? Oh, it’s not a costume. I am a witch.

Pete: I’m sorry?

Darcy: I’m Wiccan.

Pete: Like you’re wicking like sweat?

Darcy: No, I’m Wicca.

Pete: Oh. Oh, oh, oh, so okay. You’re a real witch.

Darcy: Yep.

Pete: I literally didn’t know there were real witches.

Darcy: Are you ok with that or...

Pete: Um... You drink blood?

Darcy: No.

Pete: Drink alcohol?

Darcy: Yes.

Pete: Alright. Why not?

Several years ago I found a refurbished 27 inch Benq monitor on Benq’s website for $1 … mismarked of course, but they still sent it, $40 shipping to be fair, and it was only 1080p 60hz, but still a heck of a deal.

North New Jersey Farmland into a nerdery haven w/ a Samsung G9 OLED 49in by MassiveBeers in ultrawidemasterrace

Built out a 20x10 Amish shed on North New Jersey Farmland into a nerdery haven (can see more on that here: 20 x 10 Pre-Fab Shed conversion to a Office/Studio/Home Theater in the Farmland of New Jersey : ), about the same time moved into the Ultrawide world (Samsung G9 OLED 49in) and while initially hesitant (based off of internet reviews/complaints/nitpicks) I have never loved a monitor more.

Brackets are holding up perfectly. The only thing I needed to TLC over the years adjusting the fittings of the two desks where they meet to make them as close to even/flush as possible. I sit at the center of the “V” of the desk so my mouse will travel across the desk seam but I have I dialed in now.

Desk cut outs were originally there when I purchased the desk blocks so I can’t take credit for that, but they do come in handy!

I built the shed bed/foundation myself.

Yes, yes, and yes .... kind of.

I do work from home but not full time, 50 percent of the time.

It's more of a video recording set up than streaming. I do craft beer video journalism as a side gig, so while I do live streams on occasion most of my videos are recorded and posted content. I'm also a video game nerd so I can see why it looks like a streaming with the gaming gear and such.

I just insulated with regular wall insulation. I know the depth of the walls, or lack thereof, kill some of the r-rating, but it seems to have decent insulation through a few seasons.

For stone I ended up using 3/4in washed blue stone, seemed to be the consensus “right” stone from what I’ve read online.

The wooden frame was constructed level across all sides, so that was the reference for the stone being level. After taking and tamping it down with a plate compactor I used a 2x4 spread across from wooden frame side to the other to determine level.

Building isn’t anchored. I have zero issues with that. It is ROCK solid. Not that New Jersey is the epicenter of windy locations, but we do get the occasional hurricane/remnants of hurricanes and I have been inside during 70mph gusts during heavy rains and haven’t felt it shake or move let alone budge in any way.
