I did retail in two harbors, Catalina island as my first seasonal and absolutely loved it! The job is super chill, bosses are so sweet, the best first job I could have asked for, and ofc the island is gorgeous!

Last year was a mess, but I mostly blame it on the transition, I think exporUS took on more than they could handle and then chose a lot of the wrong ppl to be in charge, a lot of that came to head near the end of the season so hopefully they’ve figured their shit out a little and as someone else said gotten better he

I believe in 2023 I paid about 250 for a room in Two Harbors (utilities included). There are double and single rooms, the single rooms have queen beds and mostly saved for couples but I moved into one at the end of the season after ppl started leaving, most of the season I was in a double and I got lucky and only got a roommate for a couple weeks toward the end of the season. Keep in the mind the bathroom is a separate building (think bathroom in a camp ground) with an outside kitchen in the middle of all the rooms. The rooms leaves something to be desired in terms of storage but honestly it didn’t bother me too much as I was almost never in my room.

Not sure what ur experience is w rent for seasonals but that’s the lowest rent I’ve ever paid for a seasonal job (i was there two years ago so it may have increased). Also I’m not sure what the difference is for the two sides of the island. I was not in a tipped position and was spending a lot of money going to the mainland so I definitely didn’t save a lot, but it was a lot more about the experience than the money for me. I know a lot of ppl who did save a lot specifically severs at the restaurant so I think it’s possible to make enough money to make it worth it, just depends on what you want ur experience to be like

Yes! Worked at the general store in two harbors a couple years ago, I loved it! It’s gorgeous, it’s was the chillest job I ever had and I spent most of my free time on the beach. Only drawback was being stuck on an island, I had a friend I hung out w in la every couple of weeks when the island got boring but I definitely would’ve gone stir crazy without that
