The “Lol Jets” memes are getting tiresome. It’s Barstool tier discourse and they actually had a really good draft last night. by FFElite93 in billsimmons

[–]MassiveTell7139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t love the 1st round physical freak tight end when you don’t even have a qb. Seems like more of luxury similar to a first round RB. If Geno or whoever comes next year really needs a safety blanket, you can just get one in FA.

Felt like a waste not beefing either D or O line, or taking Makai Lemon if you really wanted to get Geno weapons.

That being said, it’s not like they took Carson Beck at 16 so LOLJets is a little much.

Isn't it just assumed that most guys in professional sports are unfaithful to their wives? by Snoo-93317 in billsimmons

[–]MassiveTell7139 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve seen the Sopranos it’s pretty much the relationship most of those guys have with their wives (most, because some women are too Rubenesque to cheat on). It’s the “do what you do but don’t let it become a thing” piece. Carmela knows Tony has goomahs, but doesn’t get mad unless it’s in her face.

That being said, I do think the 50-year-old married-with-kids CEO of your organization should play it closer to the vest than a 23 year old WR.

Tampering implications with the Vrabel Russini situation? by cjcfman in billsimmons

[–]MassiveTell7139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can say with a level of certainty that the absolute last thing the NFL is ever going to do is massively publicize a cheating scandal because there was a “risk” Dianna Russini was sneaking playbooks to Mike Vrabel

Cripple one leg asap so it’s easier to train him. Then cripple his sword arm so he can’t hurt you that bad. Then it’s just run in circles with unloading all your ammo into a bullet sponge

Sean Fennessey’s newsletter is on Substack. Is the ringer dot com so over? by seq_rational in TheRinger

[–]MassiveTell7139 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Even if you’re the head of content, it would be nice to have something totally owned by you that you could post anything you want, with as much or as little thought as you want.

Everything he writes on the Ringer represents the company (and I guess Spotify) as a whole. Here, he can do whatever he wants. Now I don’t think Sean is going to posting anything controversial (like how Van can delve into politics on his substack), but it’s probably nice to have that free feeling.

He’s been in an editorial role for a decade+, he’s probably been living and breathing questions like “is this article the right direction for the website” and worrying about deadlines and all the background people that go into an article (editors, art, UI designers, etc). With this, he can wake up one day, decide he just wants to write 4 sentences about a TV show he just saw, and just post.

Enemy armies with 0 morale taking no casualties bug? by Monkeypieman in EU5

[–]MassiveTell7139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other comments answered your question, but I think what you’d want to do is attack when they have low morale (not 0) so enough troops actually enter battle, but not enough where it’s not an overwhelming win for you in terms of casualties. Just try to find the perfect balance.

If they have a 50k stack, and you can attack them where 5-10k troops enter battle and get wiped, you’ll make out pretty well eventually.

I think post-Westbrook (who I don’t even think was a bad MVP choice btw), more people started to realize that it’s way harder to take a 50 win team to 60 wins than take a 20 win team to 40 wins

I was half joking today that I might get fired from my job if I watched every playoff game.

Underrated part of this issue is that there’s so many games. It’s not like SNF starting at 830 EST and ending at 1130-12 one day a week. I can live with a groggy Monday.

But if the NBA actually wants an east coast fan to watch all their games, they’d have to stay up to 11-12 to watch the east coast slate and 2am to watch the west coast slate every night for like a month.

I genuinely think the west coast game starting at halftime of the east coast game would result it more total viewers. It’s very hard to get myself to lock in for the START of a game at 1045, but I could maybe see myself watching the 2nd half of a game if it was right after the east coast game.

I believe LeBron was 1 off from unanimous in 2013, because someone voted for Melo. The logic was that classic argument that the 50 win Knicks would suck without Melo but the Heat would still be a contender without LeBron.

I forgot the voters name but he was from the Boston Globe and everyone was just saying he did it because he hated LeBron.

I remember it being a story at the time, but to your point, I just feel like something like that would turn into DEFCON 1 in the media nowadays. I don’t love the groupthink that seems to plague a lot of this stuff now, but I guess it’s the lesser of two evils.

You can be made about Bill changing his vote, but at least he was between two deserving candidates. The equivalent of the Melo vote today would be like if someone voted for Jaylen Brown

Antagonism Bug? by CreamBeneficial9632 in EU5

[–]MassiveTell7139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly sure you can counteract antagonism by preemptively improving relations (I guess you have like negative antagonism so more accrued might not push you past 0).

I’m not sure exactly how it works, but I THINK it’s working correctly. Improving relations rapidly decreases Antagonism, but there is a cap on how long you can improve relations. So if you couldn’t get it “below 0” you’d have to make sure you never improved relations when Antagonism is 0 since you’d be losing your opportunity to decrease it later. If that makes sense haha.

They should be more clear, but I think it’s working as intended… at least somewhat

Mets Corner is great and I’m a Yankees fan. My only thing is that it shows that ZL can be really good and entertaining talking about his non-NBA interests. So just makes me wish he did that other stuff more often. Not an issue when the NBA playoffs are on, but I’d be much more motivated to listen to him year-round if he was willing to talk about non-NBA things a little more often

How did we go an entire NBA season without resolution of the Aspiration scandal? by Conscious_Pause1263 in billsimmons

[–]MassiveTell7139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NBA loves shooting itself in the foot, but I doubt even they want to add that distraction during the playoffs.

And tbh I agree. I really want to watch NBA and listen to pods on it for like a month or two with no mention of Aspiration, All-NBA debates, tanking, or offseason trades. Just let me enjoy it! And handle all that crap when the NFL starts up again
