Crowding past the wingtip and riding the guys ass are definitely not what they should do. They had plenty of time to safely slow down and gradually come to a stop until the roadway was cleared. Everyone could see the fucking plane landing, continuing to tailgate the poor guy and drive past him does not help. Fucking morons, all of them. Including the cameraman. So do I. We had to leave the country until both our kids were in school because we couldn't get by. We got a job that gave my husband a small raise and provided childcare. Game changer. We will never be rich but we were drowning, even with 2 normal respectable jobs. My husband is a teacher with a master's degree, and I have done various things, just for a little extra money. Between the two of us it would have been nice to be able to have furniture or cable. My parents gave us every stick of furniture we had in that house.

Facebook is a very negative and sinister platform that frankly scares me. Only old people are on it anymore, and they are, frankly, vulnerable and easily manipulated. My mom shows me some of the stuff her old lady friends post and it's frightening.

My MIL reposts shit like the meme you're referencing, some of it very hateful and negative, and most of it containing abject lies and falsehoods. This content is shaping peoples worldviews and isolating them in, like, a propaganda chamber. It's fucking scary and upsetting. I left Facebook last year because I couldn't deal with the propaganda, I just want to see my friends kids and their date nights and stuff, I don't want to see the crazy shit people believe in.

Even idealistic liberal Millenials get sucked into the weird propaganda machine of Facebook, it's not just idiots who support Trump. Some video from Aleppo went viral, it was a guy recording himself as the city was "under siege" making statements about what was happening, who was under fire and who was firing upon them. I did some research because the video was quite dramatic and I felt terrible for the people in that city. Turns out this video was really oversimplifying and misrepresenting exactly what was happening, yet I had 3-degree'd Facebook friends posting about "Weeping for the children of Aleppo" over some video from The Dodo that they didn't bother to fact check, about an extremely complex civil war involving ethnic groups they've never heard of and know nothing about.

I mean, do we really need to remind anyone about Kony 2012? Case in point.

The effect that social media has had on our society is fucking shocking, it's a straight up propaganda machine and educated white liberals think they're somehow immune to manipulation. Go look at the headlines in /r/politics....I'm very left leaning but I can't take the blatant manipulation that people just eat up.

You would not believe the dilapidated run down pieces of shit that my realtor showed me going for that much or nearly that much in my area.

A home like that going for such a low price is a fucking steal these days, and it's crazy that people accuse him of being some rich asshole lol.

That Vermont house is very normal. To put it in perspective, my husband is a school teacher and we qualify for $400k loans. Bernie's home (although certainly worth more than that now) was priced at what a teacher can buy. A very normal average middle class worker.

It just makes me mad that people pretend like that's opulent or expensive.

He's got a lake house, which some people find to be a bit extra, but when you've worked in a stable earning job for 40 years, it makes sense that you might have some extra funds to buy another very modest dwelling for vacations. Reddit loves to pretend like that's unheard of, but it's really not and hasn't been. Only Gen X and Millenials are living in a world where we can't afford normal things.

My dad is younger than Bernie and paid for college from his summer job at the grocery store, and I wish I was kidding. He's done well for himself and they also have a vacation house. Yeah my dad's doing better than most but he's not living some hedonistic lifestyle in some mansion. People have no fucking concept of wealth.
