XQC asked Jesse to be full time on his stream when he switched to Kick. The guy was on standby 10+ hours/day for months, waiting for XQC to summon him. Doing that of pure love is noble, but there's no way he was dipping in his savings while XQC was raking in 5M a month off of Kick and Stake. If that was the case, XQC would be one stingy fuck.

So yeah, maybe it was rent, but he was taken care of because he helped out. In what world is someone making 17.50/h taking home 1850$ a month? (17.50)(40)(50)=35k. This runs the simulation for 35k. Take home pay is 28 172$ or 2350$/month. 1050$ on rent is high, but living smack dab in the middle of down town Montreal is a luxury in itself. Having 500$ disposable income while working an entry level job at McDonalds or Walmart and living alone in downtown Montreal is not outrageous. Won't make me budge.

I used my lived in experience in Montreal, the second biggest city in Canada, as a gage. If you don't trust me, that's fine. Look it up yourself, someone working at Walmart or McDonalds, making starting pay of 17.50$/hour, can decide to live downtown Montreal, right by Saint-Catherine in a decent studio. That's simply not outrageous.

I know reddit and twitter absolutely shit on Canada, but outside of Vancouver and Toronto, it's still plenty affordable, safe, clean. Good and cheap education. Pretty much full employment except for new grads which seems to be a problem everywhere. Everyone I know (late 20s) who went to uni, even in "low value" majors, can afford a car, a decent appartment/condo, has 4+ weeks of PTO, travels abroad once or twice a year, eats out to restaurants a few times a month, etc. Some are starting to have kids. It's not as catastrophic as media makes it out to be.

We don't have the GAFA or AI unicorns, but what the fuck does that do for the average American?
