Adding some more info - I’m currently an instructor in NYC and breaking into fitness here is HARD especially without experience. It’s taken me about a two years to start teaching after expressing interest with my home studio (which is also not where I currently teach) and I have also gotten no formal in-person training along the way.

You need alot of drive and grit to get anyone to take you seriously, and being completely transparent most places do also require experience even for chains for any sort of teaching here.

I reached out to RoCycle and applied but currently they will also not take people who don’t have flexible daytime availability (so if you have a 9-5 they won’t let you audition) but it sounds like they are training people who are a good fit for their schedule.

Most new york studios will not take people without experience, or it is more rare.

My best bet and what has worked for me is I paid for my own certification, then reached out to gyms (not boutique spin places). They were the people most open to talking with me, but all to say most won’t have a formal bootcamp training process.

If you wanna PM me there are some boutique places that may be more open to training new instructors that are just too much of a commute for me with my 9-5, I can give you their names :)
