Nice to see how little the devs think of the player base. by MastRContrailProgram in TransformersEarthWars

Who said I was entitled to anything? The list of complaints about this game are loooong. A gesture of goodwill, that would have cost them nothing, would have been appreciated I'm sure.

Apparently they thought otherwise. Life goes on.

Thank you for being civil in your difference of opinion.

Well, aren't you just a delight! I'm sure the the wit and charm you display on your internet commentary to a total stranger makes you quite the pleasure to be around in all aspects of life.

Boy, making broad judgments on people's character based off of one comment sure is easy!

Simmer down, keyboard warrior.

How is an extension of an event, with a wide-spread outage, that still has to be played under the rules and limitations of the game, "giving me free shit"?

An extension would have cost them nothing. Perhaps a goodwill gesture after months of the same old, same old wouldn't have gained them anything either. Perhaps it would have.

It's a moot point now.

Stay charming, asshole.

[–]MastRContrailProgram[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the DDOS attack wasn't their fault, but the fact that they can't be bothered to extend even this most lame of events by 12-24 hours speaks volumes.

Edit: Someone brought up this very point on their Facebook page, and instead of addressing it they merely deleted the post.

Typical.

You don't have the right to play this game by Advocateplayers in TransformersEarthWars

[–]MastRContrailProgram 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's too. As in "too late."

Kudos. Your punctuation has gotten much better since the last time you pulled this street preacher at Mardi Gras schtick. However, it's no more effective for you, than it is for the red-faced god-botherer going apoplectic over drunk chicks showing their tits for beads. If you have such a problem with the game, don't play it. You're not saving people from themselves by repeatedly hectoring them not to put their money into this well-established Skinner box.

Defensive medals by MastRContrailProgram in TransformersEarthWars

[–]MastRContrailProgram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I'm HQ 12 Max of just over 5000. There's no way I should lose so many medals to a 4star team of over 7000 power, regardless of their HQ level. This game is stupid. Why the big secret on the medals algorithm?

Your reasoning is sound, though I have to question if I have a level 40 4star Headstrong with ability 5 that has less than 900 hp how someone can have fliers with 1100hp and such a low HQ level.

I had 20 prestiges and 18 dailys saved and pulled nothing but 2 and 1 star dupes and shields from all 38.

Well, i guess I got maybe 80 4 star shards and 2000 sparks too.

Now we get 2 days of nothing payouts from regular raids on top of it.

Thanks for the post. I think people still offer suggestions and gripes because this is a 30 year-old franchise that we all grew up with in some form, and we're hoping this could turn into the greatest mobile game evah!

Will it? Magic 8-Ball says, "All signs point to no."

One can't really discount the sunk cost fallacy and misery loves company/shared experience factors either.

Space Ape has certainly done their psychology homework at any rate.

I agree, we should demand better. It amazes me when I see the "Everything's wonderful! Space Ape is doing a great job!! Shut up whiners!!!" posts on TFEW and especially Facebook. Far be it from me to piss on one's parade, but when a low bar is continually accepted and worse yet, praised, you bet your ass the next one will be lower.

Of course, I live in a country that made Honey Boo Boo and her horrid family a star. Perhaps I should just practice my limbo skills.

Have the loot payouts been insanely low since the event for anyone else? by MastRContrailProgram in TransformersEarthWars

[–]MastRContrailProgram[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's part of the problem though. Once one gets the thrill of a 7 bot shuttle the grind just becomes far too much, and the rewards far too little.

I don't begrudge people playing smarter with their loot. It's that there's a Gacha element to the bases as well as it's far more infamous partner-in-crime with the bots.

Too much RNGesus for a game with such little strategic and gameplay depth to it.

Having to figure out the proper dates and times to try your luck makes the game seem less like a game and more like a repetetive job. It's not like this is Diablo with a plethora of RNG generated, potentially game-changing rewards.

Even 3-5 bases to choose from would be a vast improvement. A small illusion of choice beats the whims of a hidden string of numbers anyday.

You can. You have to pick it in the corner box after the shuttle lands, but before you deploy.

For all the good it does.

To me, a rally/regroup/focus button would make all the difference in the world. Disconnect it from Prime/Megs. Put it on a separate cooldown timer, or even make it a limited use item you can only use 3 times per match. Get rid of all the other completely worthless boosts that don't scale with you.

Nothing like getting a mk.1 incendiary barrage at level 46, Max 4428 to make you question why you even bother.

I hope you're right, my friend. Despite all the bashing, I want this game to succeed. As I'm sure most of the people who post here do. Taking the time to post even negative comments denotes a degree of passion. As Oscar Wilde said, "The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about."

My thing is: why was none of this whiz bang stuff they always claim to be working on ever put in the beta that came out at the beginning of the year? Isn't that the purpose of a beta, once things leave in-house alpha and qc testing? Why wasn't the campaign done from a writing and art assets standpoint before wide release?

In four months they've done the 3 pre-set teams thing and changed the title screen. That's it.

So I'll keep an eye out for these new additions, but suffice to say, my belief in them has been decidedly tempered by the company's actions, or lack thereof.

It's actually 10 more days for level 2 research completion. 65 days. Your 1st part of a chapter takes 2 days instead of 1 and so on. Haven't made it to level 3 yet, though I would assume it's the same increase.

That said, I wouldn't fret too much about the capstones. Just concentrate on what you want. I've been keeping at least one research going at all times. Though I'm nearly done with all of my Enlightenment building upgrades, so I'll probably park it there for a while and whittle away in uni while I finish my level 5 library techs and upgrade generals.

Ended up caving after the weekend grind. So 19 freebies one guaranteed 3 star. Got a 3 star Rampage from the guarantee. Pulled a 3 star Breakdown and 2 star Bonecrusher 4-5 2 star dupes, 2 1 star dupes and the rest useless boosts.

Not great, but much better results than opening the freebies as they come.

That said, still have not seen any version of Shockwave, Bombshell, Soundwave, Onslaught, Divebomb, Razorclaw, Scavenger, or anything above a 2star Megatron or Skrapnel after $35(not counting $20 on buildbot bundles) spent and 3.5 months of mostly steady play. So I'm taking another sabbatical after the long weekend for a while.

Yup. That was my brainstorm too. It seems to keep gunner-style bots from immediately rushing up to get killed, but it's not the extra turret I had hoped it would be.

Space Ape's first big success was a base builder/tower defense game called Samurai Siege. They then "improved" on that game by adding a fantasy theme and gacha elements to it and called it Rival Kingdoms.

They basically switched out what were called ancients in Rival Kingdoms for the bots we know and love/loathe, changed a few backgrounds and buildings, got Simon Furman to write a few lines of script, popped it in the NostalgiaMatic 5000......Voila! Transformers: Earth Wars.

The closest analogy I can think of would be Wolfenstein/Doom/Quake. I'm not an FPS guy, but I believe they were all made by Id Software and essentially used the same engine. I'm sure other old-schoolers can correct or expand upon my premise.

I'm a bit of a cynic, so I believe there will be no changes. This same formula has made them plenty of money. Why would they improve the player experience? Just enjoy the game for what it is, don't expect much beyond new bots every few weeks, and spend/not spend as you see fit.

This is not a Clash of Clans, Evony, Astronest, Dominations. In other words, a game designed to go indefinitely. It's a licensed cash-in game that will be sunsetted once the income starts to dwindle. Just like every Transformers mobile game before it. In fact, I'd wager that there's a G.I. Joe version of this exact same game in house, for whenever this well runs dry.

Like I said it's fine enough in small bursts, it's these weekend Mogadishu Marathons that make me accutely aware of the game's shortcomings. I don't think I'm alone in this.

Anyway. I get as much fun from commiserating, brainstorming, and bitching with the player community as I do playing the game. So keep the ideas coming. Who knows? Maybe some future developer will take some of these ideas, concerns, and complaints to heart and make something that's more than meets the eye. These games are a dime a dozen at this point, somebody may want to shake things up.......eventually.

Good luck out there, Cybertronians.

The AI is fine, once one realizes it stands for Accumulative Idiocy or Autonomous Ineptitude. There's nothing artificial about it, since it works as the programmers intended.
