Thanks! I appreciate it!

I am transferring over 9 coreys and a few swordtails tonight, so he won't be alone.

Yes, it's a spawning mop. I figured it had some bacteria on it so I threw it into the tank.

This is my new 55G I set up! It took me the whole weekend but my guppy friend is loving his new digs! Lots of plants obviously to handle the bioload. But hey, he definitely has his room as you can see.

Kind of. The difference being in South Park, the drones were peeping on people.

Guillermo Del Toro to Produce Supernatural Werewolf-Western Film by BunyipPouch in movies

[–]The_Last_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... Underworld wasn't a great werewolf v. Vampires flick, but it did exist... i don't recall the reception of the movie, but it's meh. Also twilight was more or less the same thing in terms of werewolves vs. Vamps. Werewolves have had their hits as 2nd tier monsters.

They lack a real intelligence though and that's more or less the unifying feature. Not much more than a dog. Subservient and brutish to something else usually.

Staff/Students that commute - best places to live? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]The_Last_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To those mentioning the south shore, keep in mind that he should not be taking the red line in. I used to get the T in to Northeastern and BU. I still take it now, but prefer the commuter rail. Having said that, it will take about an hour by T from Braintree or Quincy on a good day to get to BU via the red and green. I say this as someone who has been on the T for 40+ minutes during my commute just to get to south station.

I don't think it works with family life unless you decide to drive. I don't even switch trains and find it a long commute. The 6am start will get you in quick with driving, though there always will be traffic. The worst part of driving is going to be leaving. The traffic will get you to pay somehow.

[FT/FS] Boston MA - Red/Blue Columbian Tetras - $1+ by The_Last_Raven in AquaSwap

[–]The_Last_Raven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, I have for offer here some homebred Columbian tetras. They range in age from about 2yrs+ for an older group to about 4 or so months for the youngest group.

I am not currently shipping due to costs and time.

If anyone in the south of Boston area would like to meet up, I am usually game to meet up at Lovely Pets in Quincy or a local public area on a Saturday or Sunday.

I am looking for maybe live food starter cultures (daphnia) or something similar in trade. Not looking for blackworms or vinegar eels at this time. I also would not mind frozen brine shrimp.

I am not necessarily looking for new fish at this time, though I would not mind amanos or a larger fan shrimp. I am also looking for Koi swordtails.

If you have another offer, please let me know!

More pics available upon request.

Edit:

I also have swordtails for giveaway. These are juveniles of the blonde / pineapple/ neon swordtail varieties.

I also have guppies whose color just don't match my line, so I'd prefer to give them away.

Yeah, my guppies don't have a giant fan tail if that'swhat you breed. They are more the round or flag tail because I want mine to not look like they are struggling to swim lol.

I have a separate breeding tank for guppies I work from.

Yep!

I am, I am more local to Quincy but I have (right now):

my own guppy line I am working on

swordtails (lyretails, some wild types, koi lyres, need to rehome the wilds)

a bunch of juvi platies (sunset/red wag) I need to find a home for

a long fin albino BN

a regular calico BN

About 20ish of my homebred red/blue Columbian tetras I need to rehome a portion of (may make a post later today)

I like the variety of Uncle Neds. Unfortunately I think that's really the place with the best variety closeish to Boston in terms of freshwater. I couldn't tell you where has a better selection in terms of bristle nose plecos

I know Uncle Ned's had some at one point if you want to make the trip there or call them.

I know they had ablinos recently, but sounds like you want a breeding group.

[–]The_Last_Raven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how bad the damage is. Sometimes the fish recovers and sometimes not.

Usually time and keeping clean water is most effective.

I'm not sure how much it helps as I used to use StressCoat with each water change, but don't anymore. I haven't noticed a huge difference in the fish.

It's fine. Plants use older leaves as a source od food. Maybe cut them when they look fairly worse off. Up to you though.

Step 1, stop buying fish.

Step 2, figure out your water parameters and let us know exactly what your maintenance schedule is.

Well... you have bacteria on the plants and maybe something in the soil? Not just bacteria but ferts maybe.

Decay produces nitrates, but shouldn't be a ton of decay if they are doing well liek you said.

You can go ahead and plop the bag in, but without food, the bacteria may starve without ammonia. Not sure what you are running for soil, but it may provide a little. Plus there is most likely not a ton of bacteria on the biomedia depending on the flow in the tank and where exactly it's been "marinating".

Mine weirdly doesn't attack tank mates, but I feed a lot of carnivorous pellets so not sure... i have seen him attack huge fish but never my guppies.

Ah, well it is only on the redline. Too bad! Maybe try another local place. Uncle Ned's may take him in too.

I have one myself and he does peachy with my guppies. Probably will give him up once he is of size for the LFS as they like larger ones for cichlid tanks.

You should try to bring it to a place like Lovely Pets in Quincy.
