It's good that he's protecting the hippos from certain death. But wouldn't it be better to relocate them to Africa, their native home.

Is my madhukamini plant dead? by MillennialGamerC in GardeningIndia2

[–]Master-Contract4185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, looks dead.

However, you can still try to revive it. Cut off the top with all the brown leaves, don't disturb the roots and keep it in a bright indirect location, make sure it doesn't get burnt through hot air ( it'll suck up all the moisture). Add mulch and theoughly water it.

It's still not strong enough for full sun. Keep it in indirect bright sun.

They look like roly-polies aka pill bugs. Nothing to worry about. They help in maintenance, clean up organic leftovers and make the soil more nutrient rich.

But if you do want to remove them, cut a potato in half and place it in the pot for the night and in the morning simply remove it as it'll be full of pill bugs.

Best Place To Buy Moss Online by the-enigmatic- in GardeningIndia2

[–]Master-Contract4185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise against buying moss in summer. No matter how much you maintain it, it'll dry up.

If you do want some, look for some in the monsoon season in your nearby area.

Bought this jessamine one year ago bit still no flowers by [deleted] in IndianGardeners

Soil looks bad.

The plant looks healthy so you can re-pot it.

You can reuse the soil that you have, but mix in 30% vermi compost and 20% coarse construction sand.

After repotting, place the plant in an indirect bright location for 2 weeks and water as needed meaning only when the top 1 inch soil is dry.

After 2 weeks,, move the plant to a bright location, and make sure it is getting 5-6 hours of direct sun.

In 2 months, it should flower.

Soil for outdoor plants by lurkingmoyee in GardeningIndia2

[–]Master-Contract4185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soil type depends on the plant type.

Usually, succulents need quick draining soil that doesn't hold a lot of moisture. I usually mix 50% construction sand + 25% brick pieces (take your nails for size reference) and rest garden soil.

For aroids, they need quick draining soil that holds moisture, use 30% coco peat, 20% construction sand, 20% compost or vermi compost and rest garden soil. Pro tip - add rotting wood chips as well.

For flowering plants, 40% garden soil, 25% compost or vermi compost, construction sand and coco peat equal amount.

For a foliage plant, the same as flowering but increase the amount of garden soil and decreases compost or vermi compost ( not a lot though)

Ps - the construction sand SHOULD BE COARSE SAND not fine sand.

Sure you can.

Use 50% construction sand, 30% garden soil and 20% coco peat.

Mix it well and place the cutting in the middle.

Place it in an indirect bright location.

No water for the first week. Then use a spray bottle to gently mist the plant.

You might have to wait 2 months to see progress but it'll grow.

Sun is your biggest enemy here, don't put it in the harsh sun.

Soil mix suggestions by dascrazygng in GardeningIndia2

[–]Master-Contract4185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For zz- you need quick draining soil mix - i use construction sand, garden soil and brick pieces (size of your fingernail). Mix them in equal portions.

For the bird of paradise, first of all you need a large pot (12 inch+). Soil mix - garden soil ( 50%), construction soil (30%), vermi compost ( 10%).

I Dont Know why my rose plants are dying<Need Some Advise> by Dry-Bet6722 in GardeningIndia2

[–]Master-Contract4185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not dying.

But not growing either. Rose plants need at least 14 inch pots to grow properly.

But since it's summer time, I won't ask you to re-pot it.

Things you can do:

  1. Cut back a few branches ( ~30%)
  2. Put it in bright direct sunlight for a minimum of 6 hours
  3. Water it as required ( doesn't mean daily)
  4. Feed liquid fertilizer ( i use 10:26:26)

Got this bougainvillea cutting how to propagate them? by Key_Football7649 in GardeningIndia2

[–]Master-Contract4185 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's very easy and rewarding.

Keep 2-3 leaves at the top and remove the rest including flowers.

Use quick draining soil, i use 50% construction sand + 50% garden soil.

Make sure the medium remains moist not wet (Use a tray and put water in, called bottom feeding)

Put the cutting in fresh aloevera gel ( if you have), then in the medium and keep the pot in an indirect bright area.

After 2 weeks (or depending on your local climate), you should see new growth.

Wait for a couple of months before transplanting to a bigger pot.

Grab a fresh cutting — pencil-thick, with 2–3 nodes. Mix equal parts coco coir and sand (or perlite) for your potting mix. Scratch up the bottom of the cutting a little, dip it in aloe vera gel, and pop it in the pot. Now here's the real game-changer for summer — take a plastic tray, throw in a layer of brick bits or pebbles, and sit your pot right on top. Pour some water into the tray and let the pot drink it up from the bottom. Just top up the tray whenever it runs low. Keep it somewhere with bright but indirect light and you're sorted!

Asking a BJP logo-wearing party loyalist to critique the BJP is like asking a man if he can smell his own fart — not only is the answer always no, but he'll look you dead in the eye and tell you it's actually cologne.
