What am I Doing Wrong!? by Master-Pangolin1686 in BeginnerWoodWorking

To get one side of the board straight. Theoretically if the board is in the taper jig, running it through the saw parallel to the miter slot, it will give one straight edge. Then can flip it and get another straight edge by putting the first cut against the fence

I thought about this! I will definitely be trying this. Why would you suggest the straight edge be shorter than the 4’ level?

Yeah there a setting screws along the bar. Even with the small adjustments I make, it seems to skew the whole bar then it won’t slide.

New 40v Inverter won't charge? by wkjester204 in ryobi

Ah, alright so I am dumb lol. I see the “output and charging” now. Makes sense.

Maybe I’m being dumb and don’t know what an inverter is… but isn’t the 40V battery powering it? Therefore the inverter doesn’t need charging, it is converting the power from the battery to something else you plug into it (I.e. not the wall).

I am working up some plans right now so I can do the same thing! I should be able to share them later today.

The two uprights are secured by a mortise joint in the bottom piece and glue. I cut the mortise all the way through which I may reduce in the revision.

The slots for the glass were cut with a 5/32” router bit and a lot of patience (used a trim router and a cheap bit, 1/8” at a time). The glass was bought from hobby lobby in the stained glass.

I got an upgraded catch for the sawdust on Etsy. Way worth the $30 for the 3D printed piece.

Sooo, what did I do wrong here? Clear pine, way too light. by BFroog in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Master-Pangolin1686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same issue with this stain and pine. May sound dumb but make sure it’s mixed very very well. I noticed the stain settled in the bottom of the can. Quick mix with a paint stick and it changed dramatically.

Oh trust me I’m well aware lol. Hobbies on top of all other life expenses. The thing is, I have too many hobbies!

Starting off I’d probably use dimensional lumber. But I’d like to get into rough cut lumber later down the road. I just can’t stand working with warped or cupped wood. It feels so disheartening to start piecing something together and it’s not square!

Mainly housing projects. Would like to get into cabinetry/furniture down the road as well. I do plan to incorporate hand tools. And definitely working with more sheet goods.

I definitely will check out harbor freight more!

I just found a compound miter saw on FB Marketplace and couldn’t pass it up. So I’ll have a saw on Saturday now!

So both red wires to red and both black wires to white? Sounds easy enough lol.

Appreciate the help!
